Objective Patients with esophageal cancer experience a variety of symptoms in perioperative period. In this study,we aim to build an evaluation for high-frequency symptoms of esophageal cancer patients through symptom screening, and provide scientific basis for medical staff to implement symptom management.Method 1.Complete symptoms of esophageal cancer during perioperative period were summarized through literature review and semi-structured interview.2.A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 272 patients with esophageal cancer in perioperative period using the self-made total symptom evaluation table. The cumulative proportion were used to screen out the high-frequency symptoms. Then the high-frequency symptoms were established in perioperative patients with esophageal cancer through expert consultation.3.Symptom experience model, literature study and brainstorm were used for drawing up the "high frequency symptom assessment system for perioperative esophageal cancer(first draft)".Whereafter,we established the high frequency symptom assessment for perioperative esophageal cancer by expert consultation. Results 1.40 perioperative symptoms of esophageal cancer were summarized from 42 literatures and 14 perioperative symptoms were extracted from 20 patients with esophageal cancer through semi-structured interview.Ultimately,a total of 42 perioperative symptoms were obtained by integrating repetitive ones.2.A self-made questionnaire on perioperative symptoms of esophageal cancer was used for a cross-sectional study of 272 patients.20 high-frequency perioperative symptoms of esophageal cancer were selected according to the proportion of cumulative incidence.Subsequently, the high frequency symptoms of esophageal cancer were identified by two rounds of expert consultation, and finally 7 symptoms that nurses need to evaluate perioperatively were identified.3.Based on the symptom experience model, literature study and brainstorm, the "high frequency symptom assessment system for perioperative esophageal cancer(first draft)" was worked out. Finally, the high frequency symptom assessment for perioperative esophageal cancer was established by two rounds of expert consultation. Conclusion 1.Generally,patients with esophageal cancer would experience 42 symptoms in perioperative period, due to the disease, surgical trauma and postoperative complications.Among these symptoms,7 are high-frequent including dysphagia, emaciation, pharyngeal discomfort, abdominal discomfort, sternum burning sensation, anxiety and anorexia.2.Based on the symptom experience model, the established perioperative symptom evaluation system for esophageal cancer provides a strong basis for clinical symptom management and enriches the connotation of specialist nursing quality.
