Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of oxcarbazepine and carbamazepine in the treatment of vestibular paroxysmia. Methods:A total of 40 cases of patients with vestibular paroxysmia who were eligible for this clinical observation and admitted into our hospital from August 2017 to January 2019 were selected and randomly divided into two groups.According to the enrollment conditions, there were 20 patients in the experimental group received oxcarbazepine, and 20patients in the control group received carbamazepine.Record respectively the two groups before treatment and 2 weeks,4 weeks after treatment. The frequency of vertigo attack, the dizziness handicap inventory(DHI),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),self-rating depression scale(SDS)scores and adverse drug reactions were observed in the two groups before treatment and after 2 weeks,4 weeks.P<0.05 for the difference was statistically significant. Results:Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference between groups in the frequency of vertigo attack,DHI scale,SAS and SDS scale scores(P>0.05).The frequency of attack,DHI scale,SAS scale and SDS scale scores of the patients in the two groups were decreased 2 weeks and 4 weeks after treatment compared with that before treatment, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The improvement of the frequency of vertigo, the degree of vertigo, anxiety and depression were effective in the experimental group and the control group.Compared with post-therapy after the second week, the fourth week of vertigo attack frequency,DHI scale,SAS scale scores of two groups decreased, which had a statistical significance(P<0.05),and compared with post-therapy after the second week, the fourth week was more significant, indicating that as the time of therapy of two groups extended the frequency of vertigo attack, the degree of vertigo, anxious state were more obvious after the fourth week. There was no statistically significant difference in SDS score of two groups between the fourth week of treatment and the second week of treatment(P>0.05).The efficacy of the experimental group and the control group within 1month was stable, and the patients’depression degree did not improve with the extension of the treatment time. After treatment, the frequency of attack, the scores of DHI,SAS and SDS in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, and there was significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05),the experimental group to control the frequency of vertigo attack, vertigo degree, anxiety and depression was better than that of the control group. There was 1 case of adverse reaction in the experimental group, which was manifested as rash and nausea, and the incidence of adverse reaction was 5%.In the control group, there were 7 cases of adverse reaction,4 cases of drowsiness, and 3cases of ataxia, and the incidence of adverse reaction was 35%.The difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups was statistically significant(c~2=4.329,P=0.037).Conclusion:The clinical effect of oxcarbazepine in the treatment of vestibular paroxysmia is more significant than that of carbamazepine, and the adverse reactions of oxcarbazepine are less, overall better than that of carbamazepine, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
