Objective:On the basis of investigating the cognition and acceptance status of Living Will among elderly inpatients in Shanxi Province,to analyze the factors affecting the attitude to make it,provide the basis for implementing the Ling Will in elderly hospitalized patients in Shanxi Province and more end-of-life options for them.Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted among elderly inpatients in Shanxi Province in December 2017,including general information(age,gender,ethnicity,religious belief,residence,education and profession,children,spouse),awareness of living wills and willingness to sign the document called“Five Wishes”.The chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were used to study the factors affecting the attitudes towards making living wills.Results:The elderly inpatients in Shanxi Province had a low level of cognition of Living Will(35.5%).In general sociodemographic characteristics,only education level(?~2=12.093,P=0.001)and profession(?~2=11.906,P=0.008)were related to the cognition of Living Will.The multiple logistic regression analysis showed that 70-79 years old(OR=0.592,95%CI:0.360~0.974),80-89 years old(OR=0.408,95%CI:0.238~0.701),urban residents(OR=2.293,95%CI:1.335~3.940),medical workers(OR=3.156,95%CI:1.419~7.020)and childless(OR=3.156,95%CI:1.287~7.740)were independent factors for the willingness of elderly inpatients in Shanxi Province to make living wills.Conclusion:The concept of Living Will has low popularity and acceptance among elderly inpatients in Shanxi Province,in order to make it benefit the public,we need to increase the promotion and popularization in our province.
