Objectives The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of elastic band exercise on frailty status,lower-limb muscle strength and quality of life in pre-frail elderly people,so as to provide a theoretical reference for finding a exercise way that can effectively delay and improve the frailty status of the pre-frail elderly people.Methods 66 pre-frail elderly people were recruited from Yuyang community in Wenzhou city from October 2017 to August 2018,then they were divided into the elastic band group and the control group in accordance with the random number table,33 cases in each group.The control group maintained normal daily activity;the elastic band group was treated with elastic band exercise for 45-60 minutes per session 3 days a week for 8 weeks,and included warm-up activities before exercise and relaxing activities after exercise.At pre-intervention,plus four and eight weeks after intervention,the Fried frailty phenotype,the Five Times Sit to Stand Test(FTSST),the MOS 36-item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36)were used to respectively evaluate the participants' the frailty status,lower-limb muscle strength and quality of life.Then use SPSS17.0 to compare all the indexes to evaluate the effects of elastic band exercise.Results Before the intervention,there were no significant difference in Fried frailty phenotype,FTSST and quality of life between two groups(P>0.05).After intervention 1Comparison of scores of Fried frailty phenotype for the elderly in two groups: After four weeks and eight weeks intervention,the scores of Fried frailty phenotype in the elastic band group were both markedly lower than those in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the score in the elastic band group was lower than pre-intervention after intervention(P<0.05),while the score in the control group showed no statistically significant after intervention(P>0.05).2 Comparison of FTSST in two groups of elderly people: After four weeks and eight weeks intervention,the FTSST in the elastic band group were significantly declined compared with the control group(P<0.05),and the FTSST in the elastic band group was reduced after intervention(P<0.05).3Comparison of quality of life scores in two groups: After four weeks intervention,the total scores of quality of life and the scores of role physical,bodily pain,and general health in the elastic band group were statistically improved(P<0.05),and after eight weeks intervention,the all scores in the elastic band group were better than those in the control group(P<0.05),and all quality of life scores in the elastic band group was improved after intervention(P<0.05).Conclusions 1 Elastic band exercise can significantly improve frailty status,lower-limb muscle strength and quality of life in pre-frail elderly people.2 Elastic band exercise caneffectively improve frailty status,making elderly people move away from pre-frailty and restoring them to non-frailty.Figure11;Table10;Reference120...
