Objective:Objective to investigate the effect of chewing gum at different time windows in bowel preparation for outpatients undergoing colonoscopy. The clinical value of chewing gum was deeply applied to provide evidence for clinical endoscopy nurses to take effective interventions and improve the quality of intestinal preparation. Methods:In this study,570 outpatients with colonoscopy were selected by convenience sampling from February 2018 to August 2018 at the endoscopy center of a third-class hospital in Shijiazhuang. The subjects were randomly divided into group A(n=190),group B(n=190)and group C(n=190).Group A chewed gum two days before the examination, group B chewed gum in the intermittent period on the examination day,and group C received bowel preparation and preoperative guidance according to the routine colonoscopy.OBPS scale was used to evaluate the intestinal cleanliness quality of the three groups,Hamilton other scale was used to evaluate the anxiety status of patients, and drug compliance questionnaire and comfort status scale were used to evaluate the drug compliance and comfort status of patients.SPSS 21.0 was used to process and analyze the data. The counting data were tested by Chi square test and the measurement data were tested by variance analysis. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Results:The data of 570 outpatients were collected in this study.564 of them completed the study. The results showed that the time from the beginning of taking compound PEG to the first defecation, the characteristics of the last defecation, the medication compliance, the dietary compliance and the willingness to be examined again in group A and group B were better than those in group C(P<0.05);the change of loose and thin samples of feces in group A and group B,the time from the beginning of taking medicine to the last character were better than those in group C(P<0.05).The time, anxiety, stress, satisfaction and comfort of residue-like stool were better than those of group C(P<0.05),group A was better than group B(P<0.05),and adverse drug reactions of group B were better than those of group C(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in intestinal cleanliness, defecation frequency and fluid volume among the three groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.Chewing gum two days before examination can shorten the intestinal preparation time of outpatients.2.Chewing gum can improve patients' negative emotions.3.Chewing gum on the same day can reduce adverse drug reactions.4.Chewing gum has no significance for intestinal cleanliness of outpatient colonoscopy patients.
