Objective: To understand the epidemic prevalence status and characteristics of health risk behaviors of the freshmen from Jiangsu province.To analyze the influencing factors of health risk behaviors of the freshmen from Jiangsu province.Toexplorestrategies and suggest ions for preventing health risk behaviors of the freshmen from Jiangsu.Methods: In Jiangsu Province,14 colleges and universities were randomly selected,and then20 classes of freshmen were randomly selected.All the students were surveyed by questionnaire.Atotal of 6276 questionnaires were distributed and 5856 valid questionnaires were collected,with an effective rate of 93.3%.The questionnaire consists of two parts: the basic demographic characteristics and the health-related behavior questionnaire.Epidata 3.1 was used to establish the database and SPSS 22.0 was used to analyze the data.Chi-square test,variance analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed.Results: 1.The general description of health risk behaviors: 66(1.1%)of 5856 freshmen did not have health risk behaviors;570(9.7%)of type 1;1878(32.1%)of type 2;1991(34%)of type 3;1019(17.4%)of type 4;285(4.9%)of type 5;and 47(0.8%)of type 6.Among them,2565(43.8%)freshmen had unhealthy dietary behaviors,4665(79.7%)freshmen were lack of physical exercise,464(7.9%)freshmen had injured behaviors,2181(37.2%)freshmen had substance abuse behaviors,1265(21.6%)freshmen had mental addiction behaviors and 898(15.3%)freshmen had unhealthy sexual behaviors.2.Descriptions of related health risk behaviors: For unhealthy dietary behaviors: 1.8% of the students often drink,10.3% of the students often eat sweet food,3.9% of the students often eat fast food,2.2% of the students often skip breakfast,6% of the students do not drink milk,34.6% of thestudents have food preference,1.3% of the students have unhealthy weight loss.Forexercise-related behaviors: 79.7% of students lack physical exercise,28.4% of students often watch TV and video,59.4% of students often surf the Internet,27.2% of students often play video games.For the injury behaviors,14.6% had unsafe cycling,1.5% walked across the roadillegally,3.2%swam in unsafe places,11.2% had been bullied,4.4% felt safeless at school,4.1% had fought,4.8%felt lonely,12.6% were under pressure,5.6% had insomnia,9.2% were depressed.4.2% of the students had suicidal thoughts,0.9% of the students had suicide plan,0.3% of the studentsattempted suicide,9.6% of the students had thought of leaving home,0.8% of the students attempted to leave home,0.7% of the students ran away from home.For the substance abuse behaviors,16.2% of the students tried to smoke,2.9% of the students started smoking at the younger age,4.6% of the students smoking at present,2.6% of the students often smoke,65.6% of the students tried to drink,15% of the students started drinking at the younger age,35.3% of the studentsdrinking at present,14.8% of the students drank heavily,16.5% of the students got drunk.1.7% of them took sedatives and other substances without guidance.For the mental addiction behaviors,6% of the students played video games,14.8% of the students spentlong time online,0.9% of the students were addicted to the Internet,and 6.7% of the students took part in recreational gambling.For sex-related behaviors: 9.4% of the students read pornographic books/audio-visual products,26.3% of the students had heterosexual friends,2.9% of the students had sexual behavior,70.1% of the students used condoms when they had sex,75.5% of the students received AIDS prevention education and knew about AIDS pathogens(viruses),38.5% of the students correctly treated AIDS infection.3.Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors of unhealthy dietary behavior included: being junior college students,female students,mothers educational levelof senior high school and above,overweight and obesity,injury,long-term Internet use,loneliness and depression.The risk factors of lack of exercise behavior included:being female students,high study pressure,obesity,the mother's educational level of middle school and above is the protective factor for lack of exercise;the mother's higher educational level can reduce the risk of lack of exercise risk behavior.The risk factors of alcohol consumption were male,injury,smoking,long time internet use and loneliness.The risk factors of long-term Internet use are girls,drinking,loneliness,and high pressure of study;students living in high schools is a protective factor for long-term Internet use behavior;the risk of long-term Internet use is lower in northern Jiangsu than that in Southern Jiangsu.Conclusion: Health risk behaviors of freshmen in Jiangsu Province are prevalent,and t here are differences ingender and area.Health risk behaviors are affected by many factors.Therefore,comprehensive consideration should be takenwhen formulating of propaganda s trategy,intervention and precautions.
