Analysis Of Etiology And Clinical Characteristics Of 137 Children With Chronic Cough

Objective:To retrospectively analyze 137 children with chronic cough,which are divided into different genders and different age groups to explore the etiology and clinical characteristics,and provide theoretical basis for clinical experience diagnosis and targeted treatment.Methods:Children from the pediatric outpatient clinic of the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from December 2017 to June 2018 were enrolled.The inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria were selected and screened according to the criteria.A total of 137 eligible cases were included.The clinical data were collected,the cause was initially determined after the first visit,targeted treatment was performed,and then 3 outpatients or telephone follow-ups were performed within 3 months.All the data were collected to obtain the final diagnosis,and the cause composition and clinical characteristics were analyzed.Results:The 137 children with chronic cough who were included in the study,the results were as follows:(1)male 78 cases,accounting for 56.9%;59 females,accounting for 43.1%;(2)37 cases of ? 3 years old group,accounting for 27%;58 cases of 3-6 years old group,accounting for 42.3%;42 cases of 6-14 years old group,accounting for 30.7%;3cases of cough variant asthma,accounting for 32.8 %;upper airway cough syndrome in 36 cases,accounting for 26.3%;cough in 33 cases after respiratory infection,accounting for24.1%;allergic cough in 15 cases,accounting for 10.9%;gastroesophageal reflux cough in 5cases,accounting for 3.6%;1 case of psychogenic cough,accounting for 0.7%;2 cases of unknown cause,accounting for 1.5%.Conclusion:The top three causes of chronic cough in children are:cough variant asthma,upper airway cough syndrome,and cough after respiratory infection.Different genders have no effect on the cause of the disease:in different genders,the cause composition is basically the same.Different age groups have an effect on the etiology:among different age groups,the cause of chronic cough is different.In the group of ?3 years old,cough is mainly caused by respiratory infection(73%);mainly in the 4-6 age group.For cough variant asthma(65.5%);the upper 7-14 patients were mainly upper airway cough syndrome(66.7%).Each cause has certain clinical characteristics,and can be empirically diagnosed according to different clinical characteristics.
