Correlation Analysis Between Serum Uric Acid And Atrial Fibrillation

Background:Atrial fibrillation,as the most common clinical arrhythmia,has a high risk of thromboembolism and stroke.More and more evidence supports the correlation between serum uric acid(SUA)levels and atrial fibrillation(AF).However,how changes in serum uric acid levels influence the incidence of atrial fibrillation and whether there are differences in SUA levels among different types of atrial fibrillation are unclear.The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between serum uric acid and the prevalence of atrial fibrillation,left atrial diameter(LAD)respectively,and the difference of serum uric acid among different types of atrial fibrillation.Methods:From June 2012 to June 2018,276 patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation admitted to the department of cardiology of Beijing hospital were selected as the study group and 276 patients with sinus rhythm as the control group,then the risk factors of atrial fibrillation were analyzed.A total of 565 patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation at the same period were selected.And according to different types of atrial fibrillation,the population was divided into three groups,SUA level differences among different groups were analyzed.Finally,all the patients were divided into four groups based on SUA level,and the relationship between SUA and the atrial fibrillation prevalence,LA diameter respectively were analyzed.Results:The analysis showed that the SUA levels were significantly higher in the study group than that in the control group(P=0.004).In the study group and the control group,Logistic regression analysis was performed by controlling other clinical covariates,and it was found that SUA level was correlated with the occurrence of atrial fibrillation(OR=1.003,P=0.048),gender,history of heart failure,creatinine and LA diameter were risk factors for the occurrence of atrial fibrillation,and LA diameter was linearly correlated with SUA level.The SUA level changes among different types of atrial fibrillation were analyzed,and it was found that there were differences in the SUA level comparison between paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and persistent atrial fibrillation,permanent atrial fibrillation,but the SUA level between persistent atrial fibrillation and permanent atrial fibrillation was not statistically significant.Based on the SUA levels,patients were divided into 4 groups[Q1<284?mol/L(n=210)?284?Q2<332?mol/L(n=209)?332?Q3<389?mol/L(n=209)?Q4?389?mol/L(n=213)],the correlation between different levels of SUA and the prevalence of atrial fibrillation,LA diameter respectively was analyzed.It was found that the prevalence of atrial fibrillation and LA diameter increased with the increase of SUA level,and there was significantly difference between different SUA stratification and LA diameter(P<0.001),but there was no difference between the prevalence of atrial fibrillation and different levels of SUA.Conclusion:SUA is a risk factor for atrial fibrillation.There is an obvious linear relationship between SUA and LA diameter,it is speculated that SUA can cause atrial fibrillation by changing the LA diameter.The SUA levels were associated with types of atrial fibrillation.
