Sauropus spatulifolius Beille is a genus of the genus Euphorbia,which is distributed in Southeast Asia.It is often used as a therapeutic medicinal material in folk areas.In Traditional Chinese Medicine its leaves are used for the treatment of acute bronchitis,cough and sore throat,as an antibacterial and anti-allergie drug.In order to find active agents from it,the study on its chemical constituents was carried out.By means of silica gel column,ODS,Sephadex LH-20 gel column,PHPLC and so on,26 compounds were isolated from the 95%ethanol extract of the whole leaves of Sauropus spatulifolius Beille and their structures were identified by their physico-chemical characteristics and detailed spectroscopic analysis.The 28 compoun ds wereid entified as 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol(1),3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy phenyl propionate(2),(1 S,3 R,4 R,5 R)ethyl 3,6-andydro-2-deoxy-?-D-arabino-hexofu ranose(3),(1 R,3 S,4 S,5 S)ethyl 3,6-andydro-2-deoxy-?-D-arabino-hexofurano se(4),catechol(5),hydroxybenzoic acid(6),3-methoxy-4-hydroxybenzoic acid(7),c affeic acid(8),3,6-andydro-2-deoxy-?-D-arabino-hexofuranose(9),3,6-andydro-2-d eoxy-?-D-arabino-hexofuranose(10),P-hydroxycinnamic acid(11),3-methoxy-4-hydr oxycinnamic acid(12),N-hydroxyethyl-2-acetylpyrrole(13),N-(3-carboxypropyl)-2-acetylpyrrole(14),2-(2-acetyl-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)-4-hydroxybutyric acid(15),methyl 4-(2-acetyl-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)butanoate(16),1,4-bis(2-acetyl-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)butane(17),7-megastigmene-3,6,9-triol(18),7-megastigmane-3,9,10-triol(19),7-megasti gmane-3,8,9-triol(20),3,5-dihydroxy-megastigma-6,7-diene-9-one(21),(-)-lyonires inol-3a-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(22),quercetin-3-O-?-D-glucoside(23),3-O-?-glucosy 1-(1-6)-?-D-glucosyl-quercetin(24),kaempferol-3-O-?-D-glucoside(25),3-O-?-gluco syl-(1-6)-?-D-glucosyl-kaempferol(26).In these compounds,compounds 3,4,15,16,17,20 were new compounds,and compounds 2,6,7,18,19,21 and 25 were isolated from the genus for the first time.
