Clinical Study On Lumbar Three Needles With Thai Herbal Compress In The Treatment Of Lumbar Muscle Strain

ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to observe the therapeutic effectiveness of the treatment on lumbar three needles combined with Thai herbal compress by comparing with the lumbar three needles combined with salt-bag compress.The study aimed to find out which method was more effective.MeathodsThe sample consisted of 60 patients(n=60)randomly selected and randomly assigned to treatment group(n=30)and control group(n=30).The treatment group was given treatment on lumbar three needles combined with Thai herbal compress,while the control group was treated by lumbar three needles combined with salt-bag compress.Both groups were treated every other day,three times a week,6 times for a period of the treatment.Use Visual Analogue Scale and Chinese Oswestry Dability Index were utilized for data analysis.ResultsThe findings of the study were as follows:1.Baseline data and evaluation:two groups were comparable before the treatment in general information(gender,age,duration of disease)by chi-square test and Mann-withney U rank sum test(P>0.05).2.Clinical curative effect evaluation of the treatment group were:symptoms disappear in 3 cases,significantly progress in 15 cases,effective treatment in 11 cases and ineffectiveness in 1 case,the total effectiveness rate was 96.66%(P<0.05).While the clinical curative effect evaluation of the control group were:symptoms disappear in 2 cases,significantly progress in 7 cases,effective treatment in 15 cases and ineffectiveness in 6 cases,the total effective rate was 80%.By Mann-withney U rank sum test,significantly different was found in two groups(P<0.05).In addition,the findings also indicated that Lumbar three needles combined with Thai herbal compress in treatment group seemed to be more effective in terms of improving the symptoms of LMS to the control group of Lumbar three needles combined with Salt-bag compress.3.Observing all evaluation in the Visua Analogue Scale,the treatment between the two groups were comparable(P>0.05),within the group before and after treatment and after treatment are significantly different(P<0.01),the two groups had great improvement in the pain of LMS.Comparison between the two groups after treatment are not significantly different(P>0.05).4.Observing all evaluation in the Chinese Oswestry Dability Index,between the two groups were comparable(P>0.05),within the group before and after treatment,the comparison between the two groups were significantly different(P<0.01).Both groups had great improvement in the symptoms of LMS,and also had improvement ability in life.Comparison between the two groups after treatment indicated that lumbar three needles combined with Thai herbal compress was more significant effectiveness than the group of lumbar three needles combined with salt-bag compress(P<0.05).ConclusionLumbar three needles combined with Thai herbal compress and lumbar three needles combined with salt-bag compress can treat the symptoms of LMS effectively.According to the improvement of pain relief and patient ability in life,lumbar three needles combined with Thai herbal compress in the treatment group was significantly superior to lumbar three needles combined with salt-bag compress in the control group.
