ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Acu-therapy of Balancing and Adjusting Ren and Du in treating mild to moderate depression patients with the syndrome of liver-depression and spleen-deficiency.MethodsEighty-nine patients with standards were randomly assigned into an observation group(n=44)and the control group(n=45).For treatment,a group received Acu-therapy of Balancing and Adjusting Ren and Du 4 times a week,another group received Zoloft once a day,with a starting dose of 50mg/d,and the dosage could be increased to 200mg/d.And the treatments are lasted 4 weeks.The total score of HAMD,WHOQOL-BREF and TCM symptom were observed in two groups,the score of SERS was also included so that to evaluated the clinical effect.Results1.Evaluation of the depressive symptom:The total HAMD scores of two groups tunred to be lower after treatment(P<0.05).And there was no significantly differences of HAMD scores between two groups after treatment while the total HAMD scores had been decreased significantly in observation group during the treatment(P<0.05),which indicated the Acu-therapy works faster than drug.2.Assessment of life quality and social function:The quality of life scores of the two groups were improved in the field of psychology compared with their raw scores(P<0.05).And the observation group also increase the scores in physiology field obviously(P<0.05),suggested that the observation group have better effect than the control group.3.The improvement of the TCM symptom scores:The scores of TCM symptom were both lower after treatment and the observation group lowered more significantly than that of the control group(P<0.01).4.Comparison of side-effects:The SERS score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.01),indicated that the Acu-therapy are supposed to be the safer way to Depression.ConclusionThe Acu-therapy of Balancing and Adjusting Ren and Du is effective and safe for mild to moderate depression patients with the syndrome of liver-depression and spleen-deficiency,which is worth applying in clinic.
