Objective To compare the short-term clinical effects and quality of live between laparoscopic surgery and laparotomy for early cervical cancer. Methods 56 patients with early cervical cancer were divided into the laparoscopic surgery group(31)and the laparotomy group(25).The length of hospital stays, surgical time, blood loss, number of lymph nodes removed, postoperative exhaust time were observed. The scale scores assessed by the QLQ-CX 24 were calculated at four months, eight months and one year follow-up period. Results There were no significant differences in surgical time between the two groups[(195)vs(210)min,but hospital stays[(11.52±3.03)vs(14.92±3.44)d,blood loss(100 m L vs 400 m L),postoperative exhaust time[(49.00±13.26)vs(59.36±13.46)h],number of lymph nodes removed [(21.71±2.67)vs(19.60±2.5)] were statistically different(P<0.05).After three follow-up visits, the postoperative quality of life of laparoscopic surgery was higher than laparotomy for early cervical cancer, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).As for the sexual function scales, there was no significant difference between laparoscopic surgery and laparotomy for early cervical cancer(P>0.05).Conclusions The the short-term clinical effects of laparoscopic surgery for early cervical were better than open radical hysterectomy(mainly in hospital stays, blood loss, postoperative exhaust time, number of lymph nodes removed).Laparoscopic surgery has higher quality of life, however there was no significant impact on quality of sexual life between these two groups.
