ObjectiveTo investigate quality of life and influencing factors on leprosy affected persons, and to provide scientific basis for completing the goal of eliminating the harm of leprosy and improving the health level and quality of life of leprosy affected persons.MethodsWe used a self-made questionnaire and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Brief Versioin(WHOQOL-BREF)to survey the leprosy affects patients. These patients were survived until March 31,2016 in Zhaoqing city.We used SPSS 21.0 software for data collation and analysis. The statistical methods used were included descriptive analysis,t-test,analysis of variance, sum test and multivariate linear regression analysis.a= 0.05.Results1.A total of 505 leprosy affected persons from Zhaoqing were investigated, which obtained 497 effective questionnaires. The age of the subjects ranged from 22 to 104,with an average age of(66.36±11.25)years and 74.3%are in the group of 60 to 80.The ratio of male to female is 3.2 to 1;Illiteracy and primary education account for more than 80%;Farmer-based;The majority are unemployed,15.1%are unmarried.43 people are still living in leprosy village, while the remaining 454 live in the communities.2.Cured people who still lived in the leprosy village(Resident Group)compared to those lived in the community(non-Resident Group)have these features, such as being older, higher unmarried ratio, weaker education background, lower income and being weaker in labor and Self-care.3.The status of marriage, education background, occupation, the average income of family among cured leprosy patients with deformities were worse than those of non-deformities.4.The prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases was 26.96%among those cured of leprosy. The disabled and the non-disabled in leprosy had no significant difference in the prevalence in hypertension and diabetes which rank the first and second place in chronic disease.5.The scores of the physiologic field of the cured leprosy were higher than psychological, social and environmental fields.Compared with norm, the score of environment field was slightly higher than norm, the scores of other fields were lower than norm, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).6.The scores of Resident Group were lower than that of Non-resident Group except in the environment field, and the difference was statistically significant.7.The scores and average scores of the four domains of the deformities were lower than those of the non-deformities,and the difference was statistically significant.8.Linear-regression analysis shows that there exist positive correlations between the factors educations, marriage with the scores of four domains which implicates higher education and marriage serve as positive factors of an excellent quality of life.ConclusionThe quality of life of leprosy affected persons in Zhaoqing city was worse than the norm. And the resident group was having a worse quality of life than the non-residents.The quality of life of the disabled was worse than that of the disabled. The main factors affecting the quality of life of the cured leprosy were education background, marriage and working condition.
