Objective: The aim is to compile a structured education course that is suitable for cancer pain patients and to explore and discuss the effects of structured education in pain management of cancer patients,so that we can look for effective health education ways and methods for cancer pain patients. Methods: On the basis of analyzing the demands of cancer pain patients, according to educational theory and cancer pain guidelines,a preliminary structured curriculum for cancer pain patients and teaching materials were prepared.Clinical experts' opinions were collected in order to improve the course content.Applying quasi-experimental research, one hundred and thirty-three inpatients in two wards of oncology department of Anhui navy hospital from March 2017 to February 2018 were selected as the research object.Sixty-seven inpatients in same ward were randomly selected as the experimental group and sixty-six inpatients in the other ward were considered as the control group. The experimental group accepted structured cancer pain education. However, the control group accepted routine cancer pain knowledge education. At the beginning of the experiment and one month after discharge, the general data questionnaire, pain control disorder level questionnaire and chronic pain self-efficacy scale were used to look into the two groups of patients. The pain intensity level, pain control disorder level and chronic pain self-efficacy level of the patients in the experimental group and the control group were fully compared.Results:(1)Comparison of general data characteristics of the two groups: age, sex, educational level, marital situation, payment method, main caregivers, disease type, pathological stage, pain location, treatment method, pain duration and whether or not to take painkillers, etc.Differences had no statistical significance(P was more than zero point zero five).(2)Comparison of pain intensity scores: before intervention, thepain intensity scores of the experiment group:(three point three six plus or minus zero point nine five),the pain intensity scores of the control group(three point two plus or minus zero point nine five).Comparison of pain intensity scores between the two groups before intervention,Differences had no statistical significance(P was more than zero point zero five). After the intervention, the pain intensity score of the experiment group :(one point seven five plus or minus zero point eight two,the pain intensity score of the control group:(two point three three plus or minus zero point seven seven). After the intervention, the pain intensity score of the test group was lower than that of the control group. And the difference had statistical significance(P was less than zero point zero five).(3)Comparison of pain control disorder level:before the intervention, the score of pain control disorder level in the experimental group:(thirty plus or minus four point two nine),the score of pain control disorder level in the control group:(twenty-nine point one one plus or minus three point eight nine). There was no significant difference between the two groups before intervention(P was more than zero point zero five). After the intervention, the score of pain control disorder level in the experimental group:(sixteen point six seven plus or minus three point five seven),the score of pain control disorder level in the control group:(twenty-six point five two plus or minus four point zero two). After the intervention, the score of pain control disorder level in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group. And the difference was statistically significant(P was less than zero point zero five).(4)Comparison of chronic pain self-efficacy level:the total score of chronic pain self-efficacy before intervention in the experimental group:(forty-seven point six three plus or minus nine point eight eight),while the total score of chronic pain self-efficacy in the control group:(fifty point seven one plus or minus twelve point five six). There was no significant difference between the two groups before intervention(P was more than zero point zero five). After the intervention, the total score of chronic pain self-efficacy in the experimental group:(seventy-two point one five plus or minus thirteen point one six),the total score of chronic pain self-efficacy in the control group:(sixty point nine four plus or minusfourteen point four four). After the intervention, the total score of chronic pain self-efficacy in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group. And the difference had statistical significance(P was less than zero point zero five). Conclusion: The structured education for cancer pain patients are implemented, which can improve relevant knowledge of cancer pain for patients, reduce the wrong understanding of cancer pain, increase the self-efficacy level, decrease the pain intensity of cancer pain patients. Therefore, the level of pain management can be enhanced.
