ObjectiveThe level of serum uric acid can be influenced by many factors. With the development of economy and society, people's lifestyle has changed, and the prevalence of hyperuricemia is increasing year by year.In recent years, the consumption of sugar sweetened beverages has been on the rise, which coincides with the long-term growth trend of hyperuricemia.Previous studies have shown that sugar sweetened beverages are associated with hyperuricemia, but few studies have been conducted on ethnic minorities in China. The aim of this study is to study the relationship between sugar sweetened beverage and hyperuricemia of Korean people in Chaoyangchuan Town,Yanbian. And to explore whether sugar sweetened beverage is a risk factor for hyperuricemia of Korean people in this area.MethodThe Korean people in Chaoyangchuan Town,Yanbian Korean Autonomous Region, who participated in “The study of earlyidentification, early diagnosis and cut-point of diabetes risk factors” in2017 were selected as subjects.(A total of 1432 participants were enrolled, including 415 males and 1017 females.)General data of subjects(age, sex, sugar sweetened beverage consumption, smoking history, drinking history, exercise, sedentary and meat consumption)were collected and blood samples were collected to detect serum uric acid, creatinine and fast blood glucose.According to the current international standard, hyperuricemia is defined as the level of serum uric acid in males >420 ?mol/L and in females >360 ?mol/L.And based on the level of serum uric acid, the subjects were divided into non-hyperuricemia group and hyperuricemia group. The indexes between the two groups were calculated and analyzed statistically.Results1.The general data of the two groups were analyzed. The results showed that there were significant differences in gender, sugar sweetened beverage consumption, drinking, smoking, waist circumference, height, weight, creatinine,BMI and fasting blood sugar between the two groups(P <0.001),as well as in meat consumption(P <0.05).2.Spearman correlation analysis indicated that sugar sweetenedbeverage was positively correlated with uric acid, body weight, waist circumference,BMI and height.3.Logistic regression analysis showed that sugar sweetened beverage was a risk factor for hyperuricemia. After adjusting for gender, age, smoking, drinking,BMI,waist circumference, height, weight, exercise, meat, sedentary, creatinine and fast blood glucose, the odds ratio(OR)for hyperuricemia in people who consume sugar sweetened beverages more than 500ml/week was 2.221(95% CI: 1.364-3.616)when compared to those who consume 0ml/week.Conclusions1.Sugar sweetened beverage consumption was positively correlated with serum uric acid.2.Sugar sweetened beverage is one of the risk factors for hyperuricemia of Korean people in Chaoyangchuan Town,Yanbian.
