ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of Kummell disease patients treated with weibixiao decoction combined with PKP from the aspects of patients' VAS pain score,ODI function index,Bone density and the morphology of vertebral. To explore the mechanism of action of PKP and the decoction of weibixiao so as to facilitate wider clinical application and further research.Methods30 Kummell patients admitted to the department of orthopedics of the affiliated hospital of anhui university of traditional Chinese medicine from March 2017 to June 2018 who met the inclusion criteria were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were treated with PKP and divided into control group(n=15 cases)and treatment group(n=15 cases)according to whether they used decoction for weibixiao after admission. The control group was treated with bed rest, waist circumference and anti-osteoporosis.Treatment group in the control group on the basis of treatment with decoction weibixiao elimination treatment.VAS pain score and ODI were evaluated and recorded preoperatively,3 days postoperatively and 1 month postoperatively.Bone mineral density at preoperative,3 months and 6 months after surgery. The Cobb Angle of the injured vertebral sagittal plane and the height of the anterior and middle vertebral margins were observed and recorded preoperatively,3 days postoperatively,1 month postoperatively,3 months postoperatively and half a year postoperatively.Data were collected and analyzed, including VAS pain score,ODI function index, bone density,Cobb Angle of the diseased vertebral sagittal plane, and the height of the anterior and middle margins of the diseased vertebra.Results(1)In the intra-group comparison, the VAS pain score and ODI of the treatment group and the control group were significantly improved compared with those before surgery, with statistically significant differences(P < 0.05).(2)In the inter-group comparison, the degree of pain relief at each time point in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The improvement of ODI at each time point in the treatment group was better than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).(3)In terms of intra-group comparison, spinal bone mineral density of the two groups recovered half a year after surgery, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).However,the recovery of BMD in the treatment group was significantly better than that in the control group half a year after surgery, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).(4)In the intra-group comparison, the Cobb Angle of the symptomatic vertebrae and the height of the anterior median margin of the vertebrae in the treatment group and the control group were significantly recovered compared with those before surgery, with statistically significant differences(P < 0.05).(5)In the comparison between the groups, there was no statistically significant difference in the Cobb Angle of the symptomatic vertebral between the treatment group and the control group at each time point after treatment(P > 0.05).After treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in the height of the anterior median margin of the symptomatic vertebrae between the treatment group and the control group at each time point(P > 0.05).ConclusionThe decoction weibixiao can effectively reduce the pain of Kummell disease, improve the spinal movement function of patients, promote the improvement of bone density of patients, and is conducive to the recovery of patients. The effect is safe and obvious, which can be further promoted and applied and studied in the clinical treatment of Kummell disease.
