| ObjectiveThis research aims to understand the status in quo and influencing factors of family caregivers of the elderly patients with chronic diseases and to explore correlations between the living standard of this group and care burden,care ability and social by investigating their life quality.To provide reference direction and theoretical basis for clinical staff on how to improve the quality of life of caregivers and the quality of care for elderly patients with chronic diseases,Attach importance to them by relevant departments,so as to maintain the physical and mental health of the patients and of the caregivers.MethodsThis research,adopting the convenient sampling method,conducts questionnaire surveys from January 2018 to September,2018,on the family members of the elderly patients who meet patients' self-care ability less than or equal to 60 points and lasts for more than 6 months,in geriatric department,respiratory department,neurology department of a tertiary hospital in Kaifeng by using general data questionnaires,barthel index,zarit burden interview,family caregiver task inventory,social support rating scale,SPSS17.0 software is used to establish the database and conduct descriptive statistical analysis,single factor analysis,correlation analysis,and regression analysis.Results1.This status of life quality of family caregivers for the elderly patients with chronic diseases: total scores of life quality(53.43±7.17),Physiological Score(11.44±1.42),Psychological scoring(12.0±1.70),Scores in the field of social relations(12.0±2.08),Scores in the field of environment((11.53±2.01).the scores of all dimensions of life quality of the caregivers are all lower than the domestic norm,and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.001).2.The single factor analysis of life quality of family caregivers for the elderly patients with chronic diseases shows: the caregivers' role relationship,gender,age,literacy,occupation,caregivers' health conditions,family monthly income level,numbers of caregivers,with or without patient care,daily nursing time,nursing intention,the understanding level toward the disease,patients' self-care ability,payment method and place of residence are influence factors for life quality of the family caregivers(P < 0.05).3.The current status of care burden,care ability and social support of family caregivers of the elderly patients with chronic diseases: the total score of family care burden is(31.11±12.90),the score of individual burden is(20.43±7.95)and the score of role burden is(8.57±5.12).There are 52 cases of mild burden(24.8%),100 cases of moderate burden(47.6%),56 cases of severe burden(26.7%),and 2 cases of serious burden(0.9%).The total score of care ability is(20.12±8.11).Among the five dimensions,the score of adjusted personal and social needs is the highest(5.00±2.13),and the score of strain and assistance is the lowest(3.47±1.91).The total score of social support is(39.37±6.50),including 33 cases with low level of social support(15.7%),134 cases with general level of support(63.8%),and 43 cases with high level of support(20.5%).4.The relations of life quality of family caregivers of the elderly patients with chronic diseases with care burden,care ability and social support: Spearman correlation analysis shows that there is a significant negative correlation between care burden and the life quality(correlation coefficient r=-0.544,P<0.01).There are different levels of negative correlations between nursing ability and the life quality(correlation coefficient r=-0.603,P<0.01).There is a significant positive correlation between social support and the life quality(correlation coefficient r=0.623,P<0.01).5.MLR analysis(multiple linear regression analysis)of life quality of family caregivers for the elderly patients with chronic diseases: The results show that the notable factors affecting the life quality are social support,care ability,family monthly income,care burden,health condition of caregivers,and literacy of caregivers(P<0.05).Conclusion1.The life quality of family caregivers for the elderly patients with chronic diseases is at relatively low level;the care burden is at medium level;the care ability is at medium or low level;and the social support of caregivers is in general.2.The life quality of caregivers for the elderly patients with chronic diseases is positively correlated with social support in varying degrees,and significantly negatively correlated with care burden and care ability.3.Social support,care ability,monthly family income,care burden,health conditions of caregivers and education level of caregivers are notable factors affecting life quality of the caregivers.The social support and care ability should be enhanced so as to improve the life quality of the caregivers and the nursing quality for the elderly patients with chronic diseases. |
