Quyusanjie Formula Improved Adverse Reactions Of Microwave Ablation On Benign Thyroid Nodules

Efficacy and safety of microwave ablation on benign nonfunctional thyroid nodulesObjective:To evaluate the clinical effect of ultrasound-guided microwave ablation of(MWA)on benign non-functional thyroid nodules.Methods:The study group reviewed patients with non-functional benign thyroid nodules treated ith MWA from January 1,2016 to December 31,2018 in Jiangsu Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital.The general information of the patients,the ultrasonic structure and size of the nodules before and after MWA and the thyroid function of the patients were collected.The adverse effects,the duration and the outcome of postoperative follow-up were recorded.Finally,collected data were analyzed.Results:103 patients(106 nodules)were enrolled,of which 17(16.50%)were male and 86(83.50%)were female.The median age of the patients was 43.00 years.The median diameter of the nodules before operation was 3.33cm.MWA had a good efficacy on benign thyroid nodules.At 12 months after MWA,the volume of the nodules decreased significantly(P<0.001)from 6.30ml to 0.82 ml.The volume reduction rate was 82.14%and the successful rate of treatment was 93.9%.The results of binary logistics regression analysis showed that the ultrasonic characteristics of nodules were independent factors(P<0.05),the OR value was 0.378 and the 95% confidence interval(CI)was(0.194,0.739).The volume of cystic nodules before operation was 9.97ml,which was significantly larger than that of solid(6.07ml)and mixed nodules(6.10ml).One month after operation,the volume of cystic nodules decreased to 3ml,the volume reduction rate was 63.98%,and the successful rate of treatment was 61.50%.The overall therapeutic effect was superior to that of solid and mixed nodules.There were no serious complications and secondary hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism after operation,but transient hyperthyroidism and thyroglobulin increased at 1 day after operation and returned to normal one month later.In addition,34.95%(36 cases)had postoperative pain lasting from half a day to 10 days,7.77%(8 cases)had conscious swelling of neck after operation,lasting from 1 day to 1 month,2 cases complained of voice change,which lasted for 1 day and 1 week,respectively,and 7.62%(8 cases)suffered from swelling of neck after operation for 1 day and 1 week,respectively.There were also 2 patients suffering from swallowing discomfort lasting 5 to 7 days.Conclusions:Microwave ablation is safe and effective in treating nonfunctional benign thyroid nodules.Quyusanjie Formula Improved Adverse Reactions of Microwave Ablation on Benign Thyroid NodulesObjective:To explore whether Quyusanjie formula can improve the adverse reaction of microwave ablation on benign nonfunctional thyroid nodules.Methods:From March 1,2018 to February 28,2019,the patients with adverse reactions of MWA in our hospital were treated with Quyusanjie formula as a Chinese medicine treatment group(n = 16).The patients with adverse reactions of MWA refusing Chinese medicine treatment were received as a control group(n= 18).The baseline data of the patients were collected to compare the therapeutic effect of MWA and the adverse reactions,duration and outcome of the patients at one month after operation between the traditional Chinese medicine treatment group and the control group.At last,analysing the data.Results:A total of 34 patients were enrolled in this study,16 in the Chinese medicine treatment group and 18 in the control group.The median age of the patients in the treatment group was 51.50 years old.The median diameter of the largest transverse diameter of the nodules before operation was 3.70 cm and the median preoperative volume was 10.93 ml.There was no significant difference between the two groups.One month after operation,in the Chinese medicine group,16 people complained of mild postoperative pain,the median duration of which was 0.5 day.And three of them were accompanied by neck swelling for 1 day,3 days and 5 days,respectively.One patient suffered from dysphagia,which lasted only about 5 days.And there was no voice change in the patients.Compared with the control group,the duration of postoperative pain in the Chinese medicine treatment group was significantly shorter than that in the control group(P=0.021).In addition,the median score of symptom in TCM treatment group was decreased from 6.00 to 2.00,lower than that in control group(P=0.022).The improvement effect of symptoms was better than that of control group.Conclusions:Microwave ablation combined with Quyusanjie formula can effectively improve the clinical symptoms and adverse reactions of patients,especially postoperative pain.
