BackgroundThe aging of the population poses a severe challenge to the development of the elderly care industry in China. With the acceleration of the aging process, the proportion of older people and the elderly who cannot take care of themselves is increasing, and the demand for long-term care and life care is increasing. However, currently, there is still a big gap between the training of the elderly nursing professionals and the demands brought about by the aging in China. The development of the aged nursing discipline cannot meet the nursing needs of the elderly.ObjectivesThe objectives of this study are to take part-time master students in nursing profession as the survey object,to analyze the status quo and its influencing factors of the aged nursing education,to understand the current situation of demand,to analyze the development strategy,to propose relevant countermeasures and to formulate relevant policies for decision-makers and managers of nursing education and to reach the aim of well meeting the actual needs of part-time master students in nursing, and to provide reference for strengthening the continuing education of the aged care.Materials and MethodsThis study belongs to cross-sectional survey and the research objects are part-time master students in nursing major(2015-2017 grades)from Shandong University School of Nursing.301 questionnaires were returned,280 valid questionnaires, the effective rate was 93.0%.The survey tool is a self-made questionnaire. The research contents include basic information, work experiences and skills, other cognitive related factors, aged care continuing education cognition and demand status.Descriptive analysis and one-way chi-square test were performed using SPSS21.0.The independent variables which are showed statistically significant through univariate analysis were added into multivariate logistic regression analysis. The test level was P<0.05.SWOT analysis was used to analyze and propose countermeasures for the part-time master training program on nursing majors.Main ResultsA total of 280 part-time master students on nursing were surveyed,of which 95.7%were women;47.1%were under 30 years old;68.6%were married;95.4%were in good health;87.0%got bachelor degree as their first degree;59.6%were nurses;Ordinary nurses accounted for 91.4%;most of them came from general hospitals and specialist hospitals, accounting for 62.1%and 31.8%respectively;those with municipal social security and provincial social security accounted for 51.4%and 48.6%respectively;77.9%of the respondents had incomes of 4000-6000 Yuan;55.7%of the respondents had nursing needs.87.9%of the respondents believe that it is necessary to carry out different levels of aged care continuing education. The results of single factor analysis showed that in terms of professional titles,94.0%of nurses,77.5%of supervisors and 83.3%of directors and deputy directors considered that it is necessary to carry out continuing education for aged care. The cognitive difference was statistically significant(?2=15.291,P<0.001);In terms of unit type,93.1%of general hospital nurses and 82.0%of specialist hospital nurses considered it necessary to carry out continuing education for aged care, and the cognitive difference was statistically significant(?2=15.870,P<0.001);In terms of aged care needs, the on-the-job nurses who choose to stay at home are the most aware of the continuing education of aged care(91.6%),followed by professional care workers(89.58%)and nursing homes(86.3%),and the cognitive difference was statistically significant(?2=12.535,P=0.006);In terms of study and work experience,92.1%of the elderly care-related workers considered it necessary to carry out continuing education for aged care,76.6%of those who have not done this work considered it necessary, and the cognitive difference was statistically significant(?2=12.563,P<0.001);In terms of whether the existing aged nursing skills can meet the needs of work,it is considered that the existing elderly nursing skills can meet the needs of the work with a significantly higher awareness than those who believe that the existing aged nursing skills can not meet the needs of the work(?2=24.383,P<0.001);From the perspective of the future demand for aged care, people who believe that the demand for aged care will increase in the future will be significantly higher than those who believe that they will not increase(?2=4.618,P=0.032).The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that the job title, unit nature, choice of aged care needs, and whether the existing aged care skills can meet the work needs were the influencing factors of the aged care continuing education cognition(P<0.05).Among them, the supervisor nurse(OR=0.220),the on-job graduate students from the institute and other(OR=0.118),and the choice of other methods of aged care(OR=0.108)are risk factors for the cognition of aging nursing continuing education.Meeting the needs of work is a protective factor for the cognition of aging nursing continuing education(OR=5.049).ConclusionMost on-the-job postgraduates in nursing professional consider it is necessary to carry out continuing education of geriatric nursing at different levels.Job title, unit type, choice of aged care needs, and whether existing aged care skills can meet the needs of work have a significant impact on the continuing education of aged care workers. The in-service postgraduate students of nursing profession have many aspects and different levels of needs for the continuing education of aged care.According to different needs, targeted continuing education for aged care should be carried out.Countermeasures and RecommendationOn the basis of the results of
