Objective: This study conducted a questionnaire survey based on the perspective of patients with advanced esophageal cancer. It contributes to the analysis of the patient's level of psychological resilience and the factors affecting the level of psychological flexibility of patients with advanced esophageal cancer, and the relationship between the level of psychological resilience and social support. It provides a basis for the development of targeted interventions to improve the level of psychological resilience in advanced esophageal cancer. Methods: This study used a convenient sampling method for patients with advanced esophageal cancer from four departments of thoracic surgery, radiotherapy, interventional, and oncology of a Third grade hospital in Changchun City,Jilin Province between March 20 to October 2018.Surveys were conducted using the General Information Questionnaire, the Mental Resilience Scale(CD-RISC),and the Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS).The data set were built using Excel software and analyzed by SAS9.2 and SPSS22.0 software, including analysis of variance,t test,Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: 1)Total psychoelasticity score of advanced esophageal cancer was(70.81±16.07),the lowest and highest score are 28 and 100 respectively. In the three dimensions, the tough,self-reward and optimistic score are 36.98±8.96,23.16±5.59,10.67±3.03 respectively.2)In the various dimensions and total scores of psychological resilience, the univariate analysis showed that the statistically significant parameters were as follows: age, education level, work status, medical payment guarantee method, and illness time.Multivariate analysis showed that the main influencing factors included age, education level, work status and time of illness.3)The analysis of the Social Support Rating Scale shows that there are correlations between the Support utilization and psychological flexibility level of advanced esophageal cancer.4)Four age-reference groups,<50 years old,50-60 years old,61-70 years old,and >70 years old, showed positive correlations(P<0.05)regardless of the total score or the average of each dimension of psychological flexibility. In terms of the influence of education on psychological flexibility, the two groups(Elementary school and junior high school, education or above)have a positive correlation with the total score.Based on the duration of illness, the < 6 group and 6~12 group are positively correlated with the total score and mean score of psychological elasticity(P<0.05).There was a negative correlation between work status and total score of psychological resilience(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, education level and work status were the main factors. Conclusion: The level of psychological resilience of patients with advanced esophageal cancer is in the middle level in the general level of adult mental resilience in China.Age,education level, work status, medical payment guarantee method, illness time and support utilization are possible factors, which have certain predictive effects on psychological flexibility, especially age, education level and work situation. From these aspects, intervention measures can be taken to improve the level of psychological resilience of patients with advanced esophageal cancer, thereby improving the quality of life of patients.
