Objective: To observe the impacts of Chinese medicine, which is based on Sini Therapy,on elderly hypertension's morning surge and its clinical effects and clinical prognosis. To evaluate its effectiveness and security by analyzing the change of some relative indexes including mean daily blood pressure,24 hour ambulatory blood pressure,TCM clinical symptom score, serum lipid,HCY and so on.Methods: 60 in-patients with elderly essential hypertension and morning surge were picked out from the cardiovascular department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine in April 2018 to October 2018 according to the inclusive and exclusive criteria. They were divided into the treatment group(group A)and the control group(group B)by digital randomization – each group has 30 in-patients.Group B was treated with regular antihypertensive drugs while group A with both Chinese medicine based on Sini Therapy and basic antihypertensive drugs – the dosage of basic antihypertensive drugs used in group A can be decreased gradually according to the degree of symptom relief. Each group received continuous treatment for 2 months. Then compare the differences of mean daily blood pressure,24 hour ambulatory blood pressure,TCM clinical symptom score and serum lipid between these 2 groups. After 3 months from the end of the treatment, follow up all the 60 cases to know the recurrence rate.Results:(1)There was no significant difference in age, sex, blood pressure,TCM clinical symptom score and blood lipids between these two groups before treatment.(2)The difference in effective rate of blood pressure control between these two groups was statistically significant – 96.66 % in group A and 93.33% in the other. The efficiency of blood pressure control in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(P=0.961).(3)After 1 month, there was no significant difference in Range of blood pressure peak between these two groups(P>0.05).After another 1 month, however, the difference came out gradually.(4)The decrease of TCM clinical symptom scores in group A was significantly greater than that in group B after treatment(P<0.01).Group A was better than group B in improving clinical symptoms.(5)After treatment, blood lipids and HCY in group A were significantly better than those before treatment. There were significant differences in the reduction of total cholesterol and HCY between group A and B(P<0.05).(6)After 3 months from the end of the treatment,1 cases' MBPS reappeared in group A(3.33%)while 7 reappeared in group B(23.33%).Conclusions: Compared with conventional antihypertensive drugs,Chinese medicine based on Sini Therapy is more effective in controlling blood pressure, treating elderly hypertension's morning surge, relieving clinical symptoms, lowering blood liquid level and HCY level. Its overall clinical effectiveness and safety are higher than conventional antihypertensive drugs in western medicine.
