Clinical Observation On Treatment Of Postherpetic Neuralgia With The Acupuncture Method Of Soothing The Liver-Qi And Regulating The Spirit

Objective:The methods of Soothing the Liver-Qi and Regulating the Spirit and conventional acupuncture were compared to observe the treatment effect of postherpetic neuralgia and the improvement of patients’ quality of life,and then to explore the practicability and effectiveness of Soothing the Liver-Qi and regulating the spirit acupuncture,so as to provide new ideas and reliable credentials for the treatment of this disease.Methods: All the patients of postherpetic neuralgia in our study w ere from the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Department and dermatology of t he Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.66 patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly dividedi nto treatment group and control group,33 cases in each group.The treatment group took acupoints as following:Baihui(GV-20),Sishencong(EX-HN1),S henting(GV-24),Benshen(GB 13),Yintang(GV 29),Neiguan(PC 6),Taichong(LR3),Ashi point.The control group took local Ashi point and Jiaji point.1 tim es a day,6 times a week,as 1 course,a total of 4 courses.The scores of the two groups of visual analogue scale(VAS)and dermatology life qua-li ty index(DLQI)were compared and to observe their similarities and di-ff erences,so as to evaluate the comprehensive effect.Results:1.There was no significant difference in VAS and DLQI scores between the treatment group and the control group before the first treatment(P>0.05).The scores of VAS and DLQI in the two groups were all decreased to a certain extent after the treatment,and the differences occured among the two groups after the treatment which were compared with those before the treatment(P<0.05).2.The VAS and DLQI scores of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group after treatment,compared with the control group,there was a difference in the scores between the two groups(P<0.05).3.The comprehensive curative effect of two groups was summed up:Among the 33 patients in the treatment group,9 cases were completely cured,14 had significant curative effect,the total effective rate was up to 90.9%.Among the 33 patients in the control group,5 were cured,10 had obvious curative effect and the total effective rate was 75.8%.Compared with the two groups,the overall efficacy of the treatment group was better than that the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Both the method of Soothing the Liver-Qi and regulating the spirit and the conventional acupuncture methods have good effect on the treatment of patients with herpes zoster neuralgia,and the treatment group(Soothing the Liver-Qi method)is superior to the group in alleviating the symptoms of pain and improving the quality of life of the patients.
