Part 1 Comparative study of left ventricular morphology, function and gender differences in normal young adults by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and echocardiography Objective: To study the gender differences of left ventricular morphology and function in young adults by using 2d-echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging(CMR),and to compare the application value. Methods: Fifteen male and female college students were selected and divided into two groups by gender. The left ventricular end-diastolic volume(EDV),end-systolic volume(ESV),ejection fraction(EF),stroke volume(SV),end-diastolic diameter(EDD)and end-systolic diameter(ESD)were measured by 2dechocardiography and CMR.Results: Two-dimensional echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging measurements showed that the left ventricular EDV,ESV,SV,EDD,and ESD were higher in the male group than in the female group(P<0.05),and there was no statistical difference in EF(P>0.05).Body surface area(BSA)corrected EDV,ESV,SV,EDD,and ESD were still higher in the male group than in the female group(P<0.05).Echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging showed significant correlations in left ventricle EVD,ESV,SV and EF(P<0.01),and left ventricular EDD and ESD values were moderately correlated(P<0.05).Conclusion: There are gender differences in the morphology and function of left ventricle in young adults. For the study of left ventricular shape and function, twodimensional echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging have similar application value, but the two are not completely equivalent.Part 2 Comparative study of left ventricular myocardial thickness and velocity in young people with high intensity sports load, hypertension youth and normal youth by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and echocardiography Objective: To study on left ventricular myocardial thickness and velocity in young people with high intensity sports load, hypertension youth and normal youth by echocardiography and CMR.To compare the differences between the three groups and to discuss the application value of the two imaging methods. Methods: A total of 15 male people's liberation army soldiers were selected as the first group,10 young male hypertensive patients were selected as the second group, and 15 healthy college students were selected as the reference group for a total of three groups.echocardiography and CMR were used to measure the end-diastolic thickness of each segment of the left ventricle.Myocardial segmentation was based on the 17-segment method of myocardial bull's eye diagram recommended by American heart association.Doppler tissue imaging technique was used to measure the early diastolic peak velocity of the left ventricular segment in the left ventricle of the three groups of subjects. Results: The results of two-dimensional echocardiography showed that the left ventricular wall end-diastolic thickness of the regional myocardium in the soldiers and hypertension groups(14 and 15 segments;8,9,14 and 15 segments)were greater than those in the student group(P<0.05).CMR measurements showed that left ventricular wall end-diastolic thickness in the soldiers and hypertensive local myocardium(14,15,17 segments;8,9,14,15,17 segments)were greater than those in the student group(P<0.05).The EM values of the regional myocardial segments(5,6,10,and 11 segments)in the soldier group were higher than those of the student group(P<0.05),and the EM values of the regional myocardial segments(5,6,and 11 segments)in the hypertension group were low.In the college student group(P<0.05).Conclusion:There are differences in left ventricular myocardial thickness and velocity between young people with high intensity sports load, hypertension youth and normal youth.Two-dimensional echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging have similar application value for the measurement of myocardial thickness in the basal and middle parts.
