Objective:to investigate the correlation between Sox6 and TNFSF11 gene polymorphisms and low bone mass in the elderly and analyze their risk factors.Methods: selection of geriatrics department at our hospital in 360 cases of aged 60 or older patients in hospital,by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry test measurement in patients with lumbar spine and hip BMD(ipads mineral density,BMD),with reference to the world health organization WHO recommended diagnostic criteria,according to the results of T value will be low Bone mass,189 cases of patients with(osteopenia and osteoporosis)as a case group,at the same time into the Bone mass in patients with normal 171 cases as control group.Multiple single base reaction(SNaPshot)technique was used to genotype rs297325,rs4756846 of Sox6 gene and rs377046 and rs3862738 of TNFSF11 gene.Results:(1)the rs297325 Sox6 gene loci of the CC genotype,TT genotype,CT genotype and C,T allele frequency distribution in low bone mass group and the control group no statistical difference(P >0.05),between male and female gender distribution also no statistical difference(P > 0.05),(2)the rs4756846 Sox6 gene loci of TT genotype,CT genotype and C,T allele frequency distribution in low bone mass group and the control group no statistical difference(P >0.05),in the distribution between gender did not find statistical significance(P > 0.05).(3)there was no statistically significant difference in the distribution of AA genotype,GG genotype,AG genotype,A and G allele frequency at rs377046 of TNFSF11 gene between the group with low bone mass and the control group(P > 0.05).There was no significant difference between male and female(P > 0.05).(4)the distribution of AA genotype,GG genotype,AG genotype,A and G allele frequency at rs3862738 of TNFSF11 gene showed no statistical difference between the two groups(P > 0.05).No statistical significance was found in the distribution between the sexes(P > 0.05).(5)Logistic regression analysisshowed that age and hypertension were independent risk factors affecting low bone mass;No correlation was found between Sox6 and TNFSF11 gene polymorphism and low bone mass.Conclusion :(1)age and hypertension were found to be risk factors for osteoporosis in the elderly(P < 0.05).(2)no correlation was found between Sox6 gene rs297325,rs4756846,TNFSF11 gene rs377046,rs3862738 and the occurrence of osteoporosis in the elderly.
