Clinical Observation Of Qufeng Qingfei Decoction In The Treatment Of Senile Cough Variant Asthma With Wind-heat Invading Lung

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Qufeng Qingfei Decoction in the treatment of elderly cough variant asthma(wind-heat invading lung syndrome).Methods: 76 cases that met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into control group(38 cases)and treatment group(38 cases).The control group was treated with routine western medicine(montelukast sodium tablets,10 mg,oral,once a night,before bedtime).The treatment group was treated with Qufeng Qingfei Recipe on this basis.Both groups were treated for 14 days.After eliminating,discontinuing and shedding cases,33 cases were in both groups.The main symptoms,secondary symptoms,total score and curative effect of TCM syndromes,peripheral eosinophil count(Eos),cough visual analogue score(VAS)and curative effect,the percentage of forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1% pred)of the two groups were compared before and after treatment.Result: 1.Before and after treatment,the main symptoms(cough)and secondary symptoms(cough,phlegm,pharyngalgia,pharyngeal itching,cough and chest pain)of the two groups were compared,P<0.05,indicating that both groups of patients can improve the main and secondary symptoms of TCM after treatment.After treatment,the main and secondary symptoms of the two groups were compared,P<0.05,indicating that the treatment group treated with Qufeng Qingfei Formula significantly improved the symptoms compared with the control group,but the pharyngalgia symptoms were compared,P>0.05,indicating that there was no difference in the degree of relieving pharyngalgia between the two groups after treatment with the two drug regimens.2.The total scores of TCM syndromes of the two groups before and after treatmentwere compared,P<0.01,indicating that both groups could reduce the total scores of TCM syndromes after treatment;after treatment,the total scores of TCM syndromes of the two groups and their curative effects were compared,P<0.05,indicating that the treatment group could significantly improve the total scores of TCM syndromes and their curative effects.3.The peripheral Eos counts of the two groups before and after treatment were compared,P<0.01,indicating that both groups after treatment could reduce the peripheral Eos counts;after treatment,the peripheral Eos counts of the two groups were compared,P<0.05,indicating that the treatment group could lower the peripheral Eos counts more.4.Comparisons of cough VAS between the two groups before and after treatment were P<0.01,which showed that cough VAS could be reduced in both groups after treatment.After treatment,cough VAS and its curative effect were compared between the two groups,P<0.05,indicating that the treatment group could better improve cough VAS and its curative effect.5.The comparison of FEV1% PRED between the two groups before and after treatment,P<0.01,indicates that both groups after treatment can increase FEV1%pred index;after treatment,the comparison of FEV1% PRED between the two groups,P<0.01,indicates that the treatment group can increase FEV1% PRED index more.6.The safety indices of the two band before and after treatment were steady and no adverse reply.Conclusion: Qufeng Qingfei Decoction can significantly improve the main symptoms,secondary symptoms,total integral and curative effect of TCM syndromes,peripheral Eos count,cough VAS and curative effect,FEV1% pred.Preliminary results show that the effect of Qufeng Qingfei Decoction on improving clinical symptoms may be related to alleviating airway inflammatory response and improving pulmonary ventilation function.
