Objective:This study examined the cross-sectional relationship between participation and depressive symptoms of older adults;to provide advice for the elderly depressive symptoms intervention mechanism from the perspective of participation;enrich the empirical study of "active aging" connotation in China.Methods:This study used a convenient sampling method,using 15 items of GDS-15,self-administered elderly participate questionnaire,Date were obtained from 500 community residents.Used EpiDate software to enter the data.Used SPSS18.0 statistical software to descriptive analysis of general data and chi-square test to analyze the demographic characteristics of elderly participants' participation and depressive symptoms,and multivariate logistic regression analysis was involved in depressive symptoms.Result:1.Among the 43 activities,the high participation rate was followed by watching TV(92%),walking(80.2%),visiting family and friends(77.2%),household chores(61.1%),going shopping(50.3%),listening Broadcast(45.9%);2.The older adults depression score was 3.28±2.78;the proportion of the elderly without depressive symptoms was 72.3%,the proportion of the elderly with mild depression was 24.3%,and the proportion of the elderly with moderate to severe depressive symptoms was 3.4%.3.Gender,living status,children's filial piety,health status and activities of daily living were statistically significant(P < 0.05).In the presence of depressive symptoms risk factors,the live alone group was4.651 times as high as that of the living group of spouses and children(95%CI:2.467~8.769);the male was 0.586 times as much as the female group(95%CI:0.358~0.960),and the children's filial piety group was 0.388 times as much as the general of filial piety group(95%CI:0.211~0.714);The very good health group was 0.102 times as much as the poor health status group(95%CI:0.027~0.386),and the self-assessment health goog group was 0.200 times as much as the poor health group(95%CI:0.067~0.596),and the self-assessment health general group was 0.258 times as much as the self-rated poor health group(95%CI:0.088~0.754),and the complete self-care group in daily life was completely dependent on the group.0.087(95%CI:0.029~0.261).4.farming(OR=1.188,95%CI:1.035,1.363),watchtelevision(OR:0.843,95%CI=0.718,0.990)andwalking(OR=0.864,95%CI=0.753,0.993)were associated with depressive symptoms in the elderly,farming was a risk factor for depressive factors(OR > 1).Watching TV(OR < 1)and walking(OR < 1)were the protective factors of depressive symptoms.Conclusion:1.elderly participate in high frequency activities are easy to participate were cost less,and consume less physical energy such as watching TV,walking,visiting family and friends.2.There is a association between the gender of older people,living status,whether their children are filial,health status,ability to work in daily life,farming,watching TV,walking and depressive symptoms.3.male and children's filial piety,good health status and self-care in daily life are protective factors to prevent the depressive symptoms of elderly people.Living alone is the risk factor of depressive symptoms in the elderly.Watching TV and walking are protective factors of depressive symptoms in the elderly,watching TV and walking frequency high energy to prevent the depression of the elderly.Farming is a risk factor for depressive symptoms in the elderly.The elderly with high frequency of participation in agriculture are prone to depressive symptoms.
