ObjectiveTo retrospectively analyze the results of eye diseases screening in Jinan Maternity and Child Care Hospital from Sept.2015 to Sept.2017 and discuss the screening strategy for 0-6 years old infants.MethodsWe have screened the eye diseases for the living newborns(who were born in our hospital)and infants(who have physical examination in our hospital)at the age of 2-7days,3 months,6 months,1 year,2 years,3 years,4 years,5 years, and 6 years old during Sept.2015 to Sept.2017.There were 19927 newborns,19003 children aged 30-42 days,8425 children aged 3 months,9756 children aged 6 months,9238 children aged 1 year,7035 children aged 2 years and 9781 children aged 3-6 years. The main screening methods were external and anterior segment examination, fundus photography, pupillary red reflex examination, visual acuity assessment, eye position, eye movement and refractive screening.Results44 types of ocular disorders, including congenital cataract, congenital glaucoma, congenital retinal abnormalities, retinopathy of prematurity, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy, retinoblastoma, congenital ptosis, ametropia, amblyopia, strabismus, etc.were detected. In the neonatal period we have detected 30 kinds of ophthalmopathy, including retinal hemorrhage, white without pressure of peripheral retina, conjunctival hemorrhage, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy, etc. The detection rate is 298.34‰.In 30-42 days old children we have detected 14 kinds of ophthalmopathy, including retinal hemorrhage, persistent hyaloid artery, retinopathy of prematurity, etc. The detection rate is 25.94‰.In 3 months old children we have detected 5 types of ocular disorders, including congenital strabismus, congenital ptosis, etc.the detection rate is 1.90‰.In 6 months old children we have detected 6 types of ocular disorders, including congenital strabismus, ocular traumas, nystagmus, etc.the detection rate is 2.36‰.In 1-year-old children we have detected 8 types of ocular disorders, including ocular trauma, anisometropia, strabismus, etc. The detection rate is 5.41‰.In 2-year-old children we have detected 4 types of ocular disorders, including concomitant strabismus, paralytic strabismus, anisometropia and ocular trauma. The detection rate is 8.96‰.In 3-6 years old children we have detected 8 types of ocular disorders, including hyperopia and astigmatism(moderate,high).Amblyopia,myopia,etc.the detection rate is 61.24‰.Children who need prompt intervention have received timely treatment or referral. Those who can not be treated or do not need intervention have received corresponding health education, life guidance and follow-up,which can avoid avoidable blindness and visual impairment and improve the quality of life of children.Acute and chronic conjunctivitis, hordeolum, lippa, keratoiditis, etc.infectious ophthalmopathy were also detected in children of all ages, because these eye diseases are repeatedly and susceptible, they are not counted.ConclusionEye diseases screening for 0-6 years old children is necessary,it should be periodic, systemic,as early as possible, which can be helpful to find the dropping of vision and the dangerous factors affecting the vision and the development of the vision in time and completely, and to minimize avoidable blindness and visual impairment in children.Improving the regular screening rate is the focus of future work.
