ObjectivesBy conducting eye diseases screening to3742elderly people of47communities in Beijing,we can grasp the prevalence of blindness and peoplewith low vision and common eye diseases among these people,.in additon,it canprovide a new thinking for elderly peoples screening.Meanwhile, conduct OCTto elderly people who were diagnosed as fundus macular diseases byNon-mydriatic digital fundus photography, then compare the concordance ratesof the two diagnotic methods so as to acquire the accuracy of Non-mydriaticdigital fundus photography in macular disease diagnosing and to explore thevalue of appling non-mydriatic digital fundus photography in mucular diseasescreening.MethodsFirstly ask for these elderly peoples`diseases history of eyes and system inturn. Then apply visual acuity chart,slit-lamp and Non-mydriatic digital camera indoing examination of visual function, anterior segment and fundus. Then doepidemiological statistics of prevalence of blindness and people with low visionand common eye diseases in accordance with the standards of Word HealthOrganization. Finally conduct OCT to those elderly people who were diagnosed as suspicious macular diseases by non-mydriatic digital camera so as toadquire the concordance rates of the two methods in diagnosing maculardiseases by statistical methods.ResultsThere were totally3742elderly people taking part in this screening,of whom1831people were male,1911people were femal, aged from50to87yearsold,62.1years old on average. We totally screen out397elderly people ofblindness or low vision,of whom5cases were bilateral blind(0.13%),97caseswere unilateral blindness (2.6%),167cases were bilateral low vision(4.46%),367cases were unilateral blindness(9.8%).We totally screened out1158cases of Cataract (30.94%),48cases required surgery (2.3%);917casesof suspicious glaucoma (24.5%),554cases anterior chamber are shallow(14.8%),270cases C/D>=0.5(7.21%),65cases of Diabetic retinopathy (1.74%),1081cases of retinal arteriosclerosis (28.89%),72cases of other diseasespterygium (1.92%),there are less than20people in each of the rest diseases. There were828objects in whose fundus photos macular were not exposedor unclear. In the remaining2914objects,266cases were diagnosed as maculardiseases or suspious macular diseases (7.11%), among whom38cases werediagnosed as macular epiretinal membrane (1.02%),35cases were diagnosedas macular hole (0.94%),193cases were diagnosed as maculardegeneration(5.16%). Compared with optical coherence tomography scanning, the consistent rate of the two diagnostic methods’results is75.94%.ConclusionsEye diseases of these elderly people still have hign prevalence,so it isurgent to conduct eye diseases screening to elderly people. So the screeningmothed we used in these screening is convenient, fast, accurate, objective andviable.Non-mydriatic digital fundus photography has high accuracy in diagnosing fundus macular diseases, so it can be used as preferred method inscreening for fundus macular diseases.
