PURPOSE:The purpose of this study is to investigate the incidence of Nonalcoholic fatty pancreas diseases(NAFPD)in children via ultrasound examination and its related factors as well as the relationship between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and NAFPD.METHODS:A total of 326 children(2-14 years old)as the research objects. All children were excluded from severe obesity(BMI>35kg/m~2),drinking>20g/D,hepatitis A,hepatitis B and autoimmune hepatitis, pancreatitis, chronic kidney disease and metabolic disorders caused by drug treatment in the past year. The anthropometrical parameters including sex, age, height, weight, waist circumference and blood pressure of the children were collected. The body mass index(BMI)and waist to height ratio(WHtR)were calculated. The biochemical indexes of peripheral venous blood including triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein(HDL),low-density lipoprotein(LDL),fasting blood glucose(FBG),uric acid(UA),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP)and glutamyl transpeptidase(GGT)were examined. All subjects were asked to underwent transabdominal ultrasonography. The examinations were performed using a5MHz curved linear transducer(Philips iU Elite;Bothell,Washington)by a single sonographer to determine the existence of NAFPD and NAFLD,data analysis by using SPSS 23 statistical software and compare the differences of all the above indicators between NAFPD and non-NAFPD children,as well as the difference between NAFPD and NAFLD.RESULTS:In 326 children,41cases(12.6%)were found to have NAFPD.Compared with NAFPD negative group, differences in age, height,WHtR,TC,LDL,ALT,AST and GGT in NAFPD positive group were statistically significant(P<0.05),which is negatively related to age and height. After Logistic regression analysis, age, height,WHtR,and Hypercholesterolemia is an independent risk factor of NAFPD.The Hypercholesterolemia is of the strongest risk correlation. The detection rate of NAFPD in dyslipidemia is higher than that of NAFLD(12.6vs3.3%,P<0.01),the data of age, height,BMI,WC,WHtR,SBP,DBP,TG,FBG,UA,ALT,AST,ALP,and GGT were lower than those in group NAFLD,while TC,HDL and LDL were increased, there were statistical differences in age, height,BMI,WC,WHtR,TC and ALT,at the time of diagnosis, the WHtR value is lower(0.462±0.035vs0.522±0.081,P<0.01).CONCLUSION:(1)The incidence of NAFPD in children is not low, worthy of attention;(2)WHtR is an independent risk factor of NAFPD;(3)WHtR can be used as an early screening index of MetS in children, especially used in epidemiological investigation.
