Effects Of Alpha Angle And Kappa Angle On Visual Quality After Multifocal Intraocular Lens Implantation

AIM: To explore the overall distribution of the alpha and kappa angles in population and the differences of visual quality on post implantation multifocal intraocular lens in different alpha angle and kappa angle.Methods: retrospective research to be adopted.The alpha and kappa angles were measured and recorded by an iTrace from June 2014 to December 2016 in Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital,while the kappa angle of 1,031 eyes selected from the total sample was also measured by a Pentacam.The 216 eyes cases implanted multifocal intraocular lens at Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital in 2012-2016 was selected and grouped.To record Visual quality indicators and a questionnaire included postoperative adverse visuals.Results: The proportion of less than 0.5 in Alpha angle is 73.69% and Kappa angle is 70.07%,showing there was no statistically significant difference between them,but it shows the statistically significant differences between the laterality of the affected eye in gender,however,there was no statistically significant difference in Alpha angle between men and women.The statistics also shows the left eye is greater than the right eye and it is no girder related,but it is related with age and less relevant between two angles.The large alpha angle and kappa angle have no effect on full vision after the implantation of multifocal intraocular lens,but the occurrence probability of halo can be increased in patients after surgery.Conclusion:1.Both of the alpha angle and kappa angle are age-related,but less relevant between them;2.There is significantly different between the kappa angle measured by iTrace and pentacam.3.Alpha angle and kappa angle have no significant effect on visual quality after implantation of multi focus intraocular lens(IOL).
