Effects Of Tafluprost Eye Drops On Interpupillary Distance,Exophthalmos,Angle Kappa And Angle Alpha

Objective:To investigate the changes of interpupillary distance,exophthalmos,angle Kappa and angle Alpha before and after using tafluprost analog eye drops.Methods:A prospective study.Totally 24 patients who were diagnosed as primary open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension at joint Shantou International Eye Center of Shantou University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong during March 2021 to Febuary 2022 were recruited.All patients received tafluprost eye drops for the first time.Interpupillary distance was measured by TOPCON KR-800 automatic optometer before,one month after and three months after administration.Hertel exophthalmometer was used to measure exophthalmos,and i Trace visual function analyzer was used to measure angle Kappa and angle Alpha.Repeated measure anova or generalized estimation equation were used to compare the parameters before and after treatment.Results:There were 47 eyes of 24 patients,14 males and 10 females,with an average age of 47.46±17.68 years old.The intraocular pressure was 22.33±4.62 mm Hg before,19.1±4.67 mm Hg and 19.67±4.85 mm Hg at 1 and 3 months after medication,respectively.The intraocular pressure of 1 month and 3 months after medication was lower than that before medication,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001).The interpupillary distance was 62.49±4.07 mm before medication,62.41±4.16 mm and 62.24±4.16 mm at 1 month and 3 months after medication,respectively.Compared with before medication,interpupillary distance at 1 month and3 months after medication had no significant statistical difference(P>0.05).The exophthalmos were 14.83±2.19 mm before medication,14.57±2.13 mm and14.09±2.20 mm at 1 month and 3 months after medication,respectively.The exophthalmos of 1 month and 3 months after medication were lower than that before medication,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).The R value of angle Kappa increased after 1 month of medication compared with that before medication,and the difference was statistically significant(P=0.046).The Y value of angle Alpha1 month after medication was lower than that before medication,the difference was statistically significant(P=0.041).There were no significant differences in X,Y value of angle Kappa and X,R value of angle Alpha before and after medication(P>0.05).Conclusion: After 1 month of using tafluprost eye drops,the intraocular pressure and exophthalmos decreased,the R value of angle Kappa increased and the Y value of angle Alpha decreased.Interpupillary distance,the X,Y value of angle Kappa and the X,R value of angle Alpha had no significant change.After 3 months of using tafluprost eye drops,the intraocular pressure and exophthalmos decreased.Interpupillary distance,angle Kappa and angle Alpha had no significant change.
