Objective : Lung-tissue biopsy inprinted slides cytology as a real-time cytological examination technique of the material taken with the advantage of having a relatively rapid assessment of disease status, interventional procedures, and the further processing scheme for target lesion. The purpose of this study was to use lung-tissue biopsy inprinted slides cytology to evaluate the patient's disease status at the cytological level, aiming to investigate the application value and auxiliary diagnostic function of lung-tissue biopsy inprinted slides cytology for pulmonary infectious diseases. Methods: In this study, the clinical data of 408 inpatients with preliminary diagnosis of pulmonary infection were collected and retrospectively analyzed from December 2014 to December 2016,182 patients were divided into slides groups, while the remaining 226 patients were divided into non-slides group. All patients underwent bronchoscopy.408 patients were underwent transbronchial lung biopsy. All patients had received blood biochemistry test,WBC(white bleed cell)count,C-reactive protein(CRP),procalcitonin(PCT),erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),CD4/CD8 test,(1,3)-?-D-glucan assay, sputum smear microscopy, sputum bacterial and fungal culture, bronohoalveolar lavage and other laboratory tests routinely.According to the different performance under the microscope, selectively producer other laboratory tests. The WBC count,CRP,ESR,PCT,CD4/CD8,(1,3)-?-D-glucan,sputum culture detection rate, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)detection rate, cell composition of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, confirmed diagnosis rate and confirmed diagnosis time of the slides group were compared with that in non-slides group. Results: There were no significant differences in demographic characteristics, underlying medical conditions, clinical symptoms, cytological analysis results of BALF,CRP,ESR,PCT,CD4/CD8 and(1,3)-?-D-glucan level between slides group and non-slides group;there were no significant differences in sputum culture detection rate(P=0.971),BALF detection rate(P=0.561)between slides group and non-slides group;the average with WBC count in slides group was significantly lower than one of non-slides group(P<0.01);confirmed diagnosis rate in the slides group was significantly higher than one of non-slides group(P<0.01).Additionally,the time of patients from admission to make a confirmed diagnosis in the slides group was significantly shorter than that of the non-slides group(P < 0.01).Conclusions: Our study indicated that lung-tissue biopsy imprinted slides cytology is a supplementary tool to evaluate the pulmonary infectious disease;lung-tissue biopsy imprinted slides cytology has a high assist value for distinguishing between pulmonary infectious diseases and non-infectious diseases;in lung infectious diseases,lung-tissue biopsy imprinted slides cytology for the diagnosis of fungal infection, tuberculosis has a certain sense of significance.
