Objective:To analyze the clinical characteristics of fungus ball sphenoid sinusitis(FBSS)and its differences with fungus ball maxillary sinusitis(FBMS).Method:Collect the clinical data of 323 cases in which all the patients, treated in First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from 2011 to 2015,were diagnosed as Fungus sinusitis in postoperative pathology.Among them fungus ball sphenoid sinusitis were 50 cases, fungus ball maxillary sinusitis were 273 cases. In this study, fungus ball sphenoid sinusitis cases were set as case group, and fungus ball maxillary sinusitis cases were set as control group. Then the clinical characteristics and the related factors(gender, age, course of disease, infected lateral sinus cavity)were analyzed.SPSS21.0 was used for statistical analysis.Result:?From gender perspective, the number of female patients were more than male patients both in two groups. The proportion of female patients was 64 percent in case group, and the control group was 59 percent. As for age, patients who were 40 to 60 years old took a large percentage. The proportion of patients whose age ranged from 40 to 60 was 58 percent in case group, and the control group was 63.7 percent. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).?The course of disease in both group was within half a year. There was no statistical difference between them(P>0.05).?In the analysis of the infected lateral sinus cavity, the proportion of infected left sinus was 64 percent in case group, while there was no difference between left and right in control group. Both groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).?In the clinical symptom analysis, the main clinical manifestations in case group were headache, eye bilges and tears spill, while in control group, the clinical manifestations were nasal obstruction and facial pain. Both groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).? In the analysis of imaging characteristics,CT scan showed that there were calcification shadows in the lesion soft tissue of sinus cavity both in the two groups. It could be accompanied by local bone thickening, sclerosis and coloboma.?Only one case had a secondary surgery in case group, and the surgery cure rate was as high as 98 percent both in the two groups. Conclusion:FBSS were common in women around 50 years old.The left side was more common than the right side.About 40 percent patients'disease course was less than half a year.It had various of clinical symptoms. Some presenting symptoms such as headache, eye ache bilges, and tears spill had relative specificity.CT diagnosis was more specific, and the endoscopic sphenoidotomy was the most effective treatment.
