Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of various root canal sealers to the root canal dentin by using a push-out test.Methods:Thirty freshly extracted human single rooted teeth were selected.The teeth were decoronated using a diamond bur to obtain 12 mm of the remaining root.The root canal was negotiated with # 15 K-file to establish the working length.Root canal shaping procedures were prepared with a #40 WaveOne instruments using crown-down technique.Na ClO(1%)and EDTA(17%)were performed as irrigants.The selected teeth were then randomly assembled into the following three groups based on the sealer used.(n=10)Group A:filling using gutta-percha and Apexit Plus Sealer;Group B:filling using gutta-percha and AH Plus Sealer;Group C:filling using gutta-percha and iRoot SP Sealer.All the teeth were obturated using 6% gutta-percha.After obturation of the root canals by the continuous wave condensation technique,three 1-mm-thick slices were obtained from the each tooth at 3mm,6mm,9mm.All slices were subjected to a push-out test with a universal testing machine for the bond strength between the root canal dentine and the sealer measurement.Statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS17.0 software and the level for significance was set at P<0.05.Results:1.A statistical ranking for bond strength values was obtained as follows(P<0.05):GroupB>GroupC>GroupA(AH Plus>iRoot SP>Apexit Plus).Result of SPSS17.0 software statistically significant difference between Apexit Plus and AH Plus(P=0.001),as well as Apexit Plus and iRoot SP(P=0.04).There was no statistically significant difference between AH Plus and iRoot SP(P=0.231).2.Independent of the sealer,the middle third showed the highest values of bond strength(P<0.05),whereas no difference was observed between the coronal and apical thirds(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.The push-out bond strength were significantly influenced by the sealer type.Root canal sealers AH plus and iRoot SP showed a similar bond strength,both were higher than Apexit Plus.2.The push-out bond strength of the same sealer showed statistically significant difference on dentin location.
