Objective: To evaluate the influence of different kinds of fiber post to use the same surface treatments on bond strength of glass fiber posts to root dentin.Methods: Twelve human premolar teeth of similar size extracted in recent period were selected.The coronal portions of each tooth were removed with a diamond bur at 1-mm coronal to the cement-enamel junction (CEJ).After endodontic treatment(gutta-percha points and calcium hydroxide cataplasm),the teeth were immersed into 0.9% NaCl solution. The root canal preparation was performed with the canal drill provided by the manufacturer to a depth of 11 mm from the CEJ after a week.Three different kinds of glass fiber post were immersed into 24% hydrogen peroxide for 10 min and coated two components silane coupling agents, and cemented to the root canals prepared use Panavia-F self-etching system. According to the different kinds of glass fiber post(GCpost;MATCHPOST; Fibrekor ), twelve teeth root were randomly divided into three groups of four each. After storage in room temperature for 24 hours,each teeth root embedded vertically in the PVC tube with self-curing resin were cut perpendicular to the long axis with low speed diamond saw to obtain 3 slices with 3.0-mm-thick as test specimens. Specimens of each test group (n=12) were loaded in an universal testing machine at a cross-head speed of 1.0mm/min until failure occurred.The date obtained were statistically analyzed(one-way ANOVA ;with the probability level set atα=0.05 for statistical significance)by the SPSS 13.0.For all specimens,the type of failure was recorded and classified after a careful examination of each fractured sample with a microscope at×20 magnification.Results: Bond strength values (MPa) of three test groups from the highest to the lowest were as follows: GC group(16.65±11.76);Fibrekor group(13.09±10.28); MATCHPOSTgroup(12.23±5.05).The one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)revealed that a nonsignificant difference between the GC group and Fibrekor group and MATCHPOST group (p>0.05).Conclusion:The GC fiber post group obtained the highest mean value,but the different kinds of fiber post were not effect the bond strength between a glass fiber post and root dentin.
