Objective: Salivary ductal carcinoma is a rare and highly malignant tumor. In clinical, salivary ductal carcinoma is highly aggressive and has a poor prognosis.Domestic reports on the disease have been reported in the form of case reports and lack of relative systematic research. The aim of this study is through a larger sample size to study the clinical and pathological characteristics of salivary ductal carcinoma, and analyze the relationship between KAI1,hTERT,TWIST which associated with multiple malignant tumors and salivary ductal carcinoma in further. Methods: A retrospective analysis patients which surgeried in School of Stomatology,China Medical University from 2005 to 2016 and diagnosed salivary ductal carcinoma by pathology with clinical and pathological information, and follow-up of patients. The expression of KAI1,hTERT and TWIST in the lesion tissues and normal tissues of 15 patients were analyzed by immunohistochemical staining. Results: Thirty-seven patients were included in this study, including 33 males and 4females.Age from 39 to 79.There were 25 cases in the parotid gland,5 in the submandibular gland and 7 in the minor salivary glands. The 1-year survival rate was75.7%,the 2-year survival rate was 58.9%,and the 3-year survival rate was 51.7%.Average survival time was 77.2 months, median survival time was 41.0 months.According to the stage of lymph node metastasis, the average survival time of N2 patients was shorter than that of N0 patients(P < 0.05).The high expression rate of KAI1 in the lesion tissues was significantly lower than that in normal tissues(P <0.05).The high expression rate of hTERT and TWIST in lesion tissues was significantly higher than that in normal tissues(P < 0.05).However,the relationship between the three and size, stage, lymph node metastasis and survival rate was not clear(P > 0.05).Conclusion: Salivary ductal carcinoma is a highly malignant salivary gland malignancy.Preoperative lymph node metastasis is the main factor affecting the survival rate.Distant metastasis is a major cause of death in patients.KAI1,hTERT,TWIST had different expression in the lesion and normal tissues, maybe associated with salivary ductal carcinoma, but the role and mechanism of the three in the development of disease are not clear.
