Objective: To understand the general situation of left-behind children(LBC)and non-left-behind children(NLBC).To compare the difference of aggression of the two groups and explore shared and unique factors associated with aggression in LBC and NLBC.and to provide scientific basis for the prevention of aggression. Methods: The data was collected using multi-stage stratified Cluster sampling method from 5 provinces across China from november 2014 to may 2015,The 5 provinces were Anhui,Yunnan,Guangdong,Heilongjiang,Hubei.according to the economic development level, each of the five provinces selected 3 rural areas as survey points.Finally,26 primary schools,24 middle schools and 23 high schools were surveyed. We took the class as the unit to carry on the survey. We used the general situation questionnaire, the Buss-Warren Aggression Questionnaire Revised in China(BWAQ~RC),Parent-Child Conflict Tactics Scales, the Resilience Scale for Chinese Adolescents to assessment students' aggression, neglect and physical abuse and resilience.Results:(1)In this study,16977 rural students were included,LBC were 5477,accounting for 32.26%,NLBC were 11500,accounting for 67.74%.There were statistically significant differences in regional distribution, gender, age distribution, family type distribution between the two groups(p<0.05).(2)As a whole, there were 68.66% fathers and 75.41% mothers who had primary and secondary education level. The proportion of parent education in primary and secondary schools of LBC was greater than that of NLBC(p<0.05).(3)There were statistically significant differences in primary caregiver, and their education level, and parenting style between LBC and NLBC(p<0.001).The proportion of single parental care for LBC was lower than that of NLBC(58.1%/88.36%),the proportion of grandparents ' care in LBC was 30.90%,higher than that of NLBC 14.26%.69.21% of primary caregiver were of secondary school or below. The main parenting style was democracy(46.43%)and strict(34.22%).(4)There were statistically significant differences in the degree of neglect and abuse between LBC and NLBC(p<0.001).The rates of neglect and abuse were 67.8% and 54.06%,respectively.(5)LBC showed lower score of resilience and its all dimensions, significant differences existed in the score of resilience, family support,help-seeking,emotional control, target focus.(6)LBC showed higher score of AQ and each of the five AQ subscales(p<0.05).There were statistically significant differences in same gender,9~12 year-old,13~15 year-old age, primary school, junior high School, only child and not only child, nuclear family and large family between the detection rate of aggression of LBC and NLBC.LBC showed higher detection rate of aggression. That was the same when the primary caregiver was mother and parenting style was democracy and strict.(7)According to logistic regression analysis, the factors influencing aggression was gender, parenting style, physical abuse and resilience in both LBC and NLBC.When doing the analysis in whole children,we found that left behind and neglect were risk factor to aggression. That neglect was risk factor was also found in NLBC.Conclusions: Compared with the NLBC,the family environment of LBC is relatively poor.Left behind may be a risk factor to aggression.Boys, bad parenting style, physical abuse have positive correlation with aggressive behavior, while resilience has negative correlation.LBC are in a disadvantaged environment,in order to their good development, family, school and the whole society needs to do something.
