OBJECTIVE:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of modified Chaihushugansan in treating liver-qi stagnation of constipation, and to explore its mechanism of action.METHODS:68 patients met the study criteria were chosen from the patients who visited the clinic department of the Hospital affiliated to Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2016 to December 2017.They were randomly divided into treatment group(34 cases)and control group(34cases).The treatment group was treated with modified Chaihushugansan decoction, and the control group was treated with Macrogol 4000 powder orally for 2 weeks. In the course of the study,3 unqualified cases(1 case in the treatment group and 2 cases in the control group)were excluded;and 65 cases were finally included in the statistics, including 33 cases in the treatment group and 32 cases in the control group. The total constipation score, the constipation main symptom score, the TCM-related symptom score, the depression scale(SDS)score and anxiety scale(SAS)score were compared between the two groups before and after treatment, and clinical efficacy and safety were evaluated.Results:1.In terms of clinical efficacy, the symptoms of liver-qi stagnation of constipation in both groups were significantly improved compared with those before treatment(p(27)0.01).In the treatment group,4 cases were cured,16 cases were markedly effective,9 cases were effective, and 4 cases were ineffective, and the total effective rate was 87.88%.The control group recovered 2 cases,9 cases were markedly effective,14 cases were effective,7 cases were ineffective, and the total effective rate was 78.13%.The total effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group. There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(p(27)0.05).2.In terms of the total constipation sore, the two groups were significantly lower than before treatment(p(27)0.01).After treatment, the mean score of total constipation in the treatment group was lower than that of the control group, and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(p(27)0.05).3.In terms of the main symptoms of constipation, the two groups of patients were significantly lower than before treatment(p(27)0.01).After treatment, the mean score of constipation symptoms in the treatment group was lower than that of the control group, and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(p(27)0.05).4.In terms of TCM-related symptom scores, both groups of patients were significantly lower than before treatment(p(27)0.01).After treatment, the mean TCM-related symptoms of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(p(27)0.05).5.In terms of the depression scale(SDS)score and anxiety scale(SAS),both groups were significantly lower than before treatment(p(27)0.01).After treatment, the mean values ??of SDS and SAS scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group. There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(p(27)0.05).6.In terms of safety, there were no significant adverse reactions occurred during treatment in both groups.Conclusions:1.Modified Chaihushugansan and Macrogol 4000 powder can relieve liver-qi stagnation of constipation, and its depression and anxiety in patients, and both of them are safe and effective.2.Modified Chaihushugansan is better than Macrogol 4000 powder in relieving liver-qi stagnation of constipation and its anxiety and depression, which is worthy of clinical application.
