Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of anxiety and depression among periodontitis patients,and to analyze the factors that influence the anxiety and depression in periodontitis patients with,in order to provide data for the clinical treatment of periodontitis and improve the prognosis.Methods In this study,207 patients with periodontitis disease and 210 patients with nonperiodontitis disease treated from the Department of Stomatology of Kaziwan Hospital in Urumqi from January 2017 to October 2017 were randomly selected and investigated with questionnaires and periodontitis examination.The contents of questionnaires include four aspects:general situation questionnaires,which are used to record the general conditions and behavioral habits of patients;Anxiety self-assessment scale(SAS)aims to determine the anxiety of the study subjects;Depression self-assessment scale,which measures the depression of the subjects;Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)aims to test the social support status of the study subjects.The contents of oral periodontal clinical examination included the use of periodontal probes for index periodontal examination of all subjects.The main contents included periodontal probing bleeding index,calculus index,and 6 sites probing depth,periodontal attachment loss,tooth mobility,furcation involvement,and teeth loss.Epidata 3.1 and SAS 9.4 software was used for statistical analysis.Results 1 The basic data of the case group and the control group are comparable(P<0.0001).The risk of anxiety and depression in patients with periodontitis is high er than that of the control group.The difference is statistically significant.Among the 210 patients without periodontitis,the number of anxiety was 18(8.6%),the average score was 41.4±6.4,the number of depression was 11(5.2%),and the average score was 40.9±6.1;Among the 207 patients with periodontitis,the number of anxiety was 155(74.8%),the average score of anxiety was 50.5±7.2,the number of depression was 146(70.5%),and the average score of depression was 50.1±7.1.2 Through univariate analysis,anxiety and depression were statistically significant with the gender,residence,education,family monthly income,bad habits,smoking,and severity of periodontitis.3 Multivariate analysis showed that the main factors influencing the anxiety of patients with periodontitis disease were gender,marriage,education level,family monthly income and smoking.The factors affecting depression in periodontitis patients were: gender,place of residence,marriage,family monthly income,smoking.4 The degree of anxiety and depression have significant statistical significance with severity of periodontitis,gender,marriage,education level,family monthly income,and smoking in periodontitis patients,as well as age,nationality,medical insurance,and alcohol consumption and social support was not statistically significant.Conclusions 1 Patients with periodontitis disease have a significantly higher risk of anxiety and depression than non-periodontitis diseases.2 There are many factors that cause anxiety and depressive symptoms in periodontitis patients.The main factors affecting anxiety are: severity of periodontitis,gender,marriage,education level,family monthly income,smoking;influence of depression factors include: severity of periodontitis,gender,place of residence,marriage,family monthly income,smoking.3 Patients with heavier periodontitis disease have severe anxiety and depression symptoms.
