Objectives:This article focuses on inspecting p-mTOR and IL-10 levels in the peripheral serum of the patients with predominant negative symptoms of schizophrenia and the control groups, and the correlation analysis between them, evenly the associations respectively with PANSS scores, positive or negative symptom scores. Methods:We have attempted to measure p-mTOR and IL-10 levels by carrying on enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)analyses in serum from 56 persons with predominant negative symptoms of schizophrenia and 59 matched controls.Schizophrenia symptoms were assessed by the Positive And Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS).Then we have tried to find their associations respectively with PANSS scores, positive or negative symptom scores, and make correlation analyses between p-mTOR and IL-10.We also assessed the cognition impairment of the patients by the Matrics Consensus Cognitive Battery(MCCB),and then made correlation analyses between p-mTOR or IL-10 and MCCB sub-scores.Results:The values of p-mTOR and IL-10 were all logarithmic transformation. We found that the levels of p-mTOR were increased significantly in patients across the cohorts[(4.363 ± 1.267)vs.(3.943 ± 0.788)).We also found that the changes in p-mTOR were weakly correlated with the negative symptom scores.Serum p-mTOR was positively correlated with serum IL-10 levels in the patient group. While serum p-mTOR levels were inversely correlated with serum IL-10 levels in the health groups. Conclusions:Our results suggested that the p-mTOR may be implicated in the patients with negative symptom of schizophrenia, and may be associated with serum IL-10.The correlation may be different with the health groups.
