ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinial effect of acute optic neuritis treated by hormones combined Chinese medicine, and analyze the influence factors of the effect, and to provide the basis for prevention, treatment and prognosis of the disease.MethodsData : There were 105 patients(125 eyes)from the first clinical medical school of Guang Zhou University of Chinese medicine, who were diagnosed as acute optic neuritis(AON)and qualified to be hospitalized.Research contents: 1.The patients were divided into two groups according to the different treatments.Group A: dexamethasone injection combined with Chinese medicine(72 eyes),group B: methyl prednisolone injection combined with Chinese medicine(54 eyes),and to compare the difference between the two groups;2.Furthermore,to analyze the curative effect of AON treated by hormone combined Chinese medicine from the best corrected visual acuity and fundus DVD change after the treatment,etc;3.Collected the general information of patients such as age, gender, courses of disease, syndrome type, blood pressure and etc.,and to study the relationship between the factors and the efficacy.SPSS19.0 was used for data entry and statistical analysis, and the final conclusion was obtained by using binary Logisitic regression analysis, rank test, and chi-square test, and etc.Results1.There were more female patients than male patient, and the average onset age was(36.16 + 13.65).The number qi stagnation and blood stasis type was much more than others.2.Effects between the two groups: there were 34 eyes cured,13 eyes improved,25 eyes invalided in group A,and 23 eyes cured,8 eyes improved,23 eyes invalided in group B,and there were no significant difference between the two groups(P > 0.05).3.Comparisons: the vision was improved after treatment and there was statistically significant difference(P < 0.05),and the eyesight before and after treatment were respectively(0.19±0.11)and(0.55±0.11),and there was significant improvement in the treatment of optic disc hyperemia and edema. Before the treatment, the number of the patients whose optic disc was abnormal accounted for 71.4%,and 28.6% of those whose was normal. After treatment, about 54.8% of the patients whose optic disc was abnormal, and about 45.2% of the patients with normal optic disc, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05),and there was no improvement in the treatment of patients with paler optic disc.4.Influence factors: different visual acuity and courses can affect the treatment of patients with AON.The patients with vision more than 0.5 were improved better than those with vision less than 0.1(P < 0.05).The patients with courses less than 7 days were treated better than those with courses more than 7 days(P < 0.05).The total effective rate were respectively 70.1% and 52.5% whose courses was more than 7 days and less than 7 days, and there was statistically significant difference(P < 0.05).In the study, the age, gender blood pressure, blood lipid and the syndromes had no effect on the therapeutic effect, which may account for the lack of sample size.5.The patients with binocular sick eyes had better eyesight and got badly treatment than those with monocular sick eyes, and the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05),while the conditions of fundus oculi showed no significant difference(P > 0.05).Conclusions1.There was no significant difference in visual improvement between the two groups.2.The use of hormone combined with traditional Chinese medicine to treat AON can effectively improve the patient's vision, optic disc congestion and edema, etc, but there was no improvement in the pallor of the optic disc.3.Different syndromes, gender, blood pressure, blood lipid and age may have no effects on the treatment of AON patients, while different course of the disease and visual acuity can affect the treatment efficacy of AON patients, and the better the visual acuity, the better the efficacy; The longer the course, the worse the effect.4.The patients with courses less than 7 days were treated better than those with courses more than 7 days; The patients with vision more than 0.5 were improved better than those with vision less than 0.1.5.The patients with binocular sick eyes had better eyesight and got badly treatment than those with monocular sick eyes.
