Chronic cough refers to the clinical course of the cough for more than 8 weeks without obvious abnormalities on the chest radiograph. It is one of the common diseases in internal medicine, and it is also one of the common reasons for outpatient visits. At present, many patients suffer from chronic cough. The long-term unrecovered cough will cause many negative effects, directly affect the quality of life of patients, and will also cause serious physical and psychological impact on patients.According to modern medical research, the causes of chronic cough are various, including upper airway syndrome, cough variant asthma, and gastroesophageal reflux cough.Chronic cough can be relieved after the treatment of the cause. However, due to the etiological diagnosis often requires a certain amount of equipment and technical conditions to support, and it will also bring great economic burden to patients.so it is necessary to look for a simple, effective and long-lasting therapy chronic cough patients.ObjectiveTo explore the clinical effect of chronic cough treated with acupoint catgut-embedding therapy compared with acupuncture,in order to provide important scientific basis of acupoint catgut-embedding therapy for chronic cough(lung and spleen deficiency).Methods68 patients diagnosed by clinical diagnostic criteria for chronic cough of lung and spleen deficiency, divided into treatment(acupoint catgut-embedding therapy)group 34 cases and control group(acupuncture)34 cases. Both of two group's selected points: feishu, kongzui, pishu, zhusanli, dingchuan, danzhong. Two weeks are a course of treatment. The scores of cough symptoms and LCQ scores were recorded before treatment, after 2 course of treatment 1,after treatment 2 and follow-up a month. The therapeutic effects of two group were compared from three aspects: cough symptom score,LCQ score and efficacy evaluation.ResultsOne patient in the experimental group withdrew from the study due to poor absorption, while three patients in the control group withdrew from the study because they did not adhere to acupuncture.According to statistical analysis, after 2 course, the scores of LCQ scores, total score of cough symptoms, daytime cough symptom score, and nighttime cough symptom scores in the two groups were significantly different from those before treatment(P < 0.05),and between the two groups there was difference too(P < 0.05).After a month follow-up,the LCQ scores, total score of cough symptoms and daytime cough symptom score of the experimental group had statistically significant differences from those after 2 courses of treatment(P < 0.05),but there was no significant difference in the control group(P >0.05).The total effective rate was 97.0% in the experimental group and 86.7% in the control group. The efficacy of the experimental group was better than that of the control group(P > 0.05).ConclusionsBoth the acupoint catgut-embedding therapy and acupuncture can effectively improve cough symptom scores and LCQ scores in chronic cough patients with deficiency of lung and spleen, suggesting that the acupoint catgut-embedding and acupuncture are effective for chronic cough with deficiency of lung and spleen.Compared with the two treatment, the observation index of the acupoint catgut embedding group improved more obviously, and still further improved after 1 month of follow-up,suggesting that the use of acupoint catgut embedding is more effective and lasting longer.
