ObjectiveEmotional theory is an important content of traditional Chinese medicine. As early as the Nei Jing period,it has been suggested that emotional activities are closely related to the functions of viscera.Modern medicine also attaches great importance to the relationship between the disease and psychological behavior. There are a lot of clinical and research reports in China and abroad that have confirmed that emotions affect the body's immune system, endocrine system, nervous system and other systems which directly or indirectly lead to the occurrence and development of the disease and prognosis, including cancer. In this study, through in-depth psychological investigation of patients with cancer, with the guidance of ancient literature and modern clinical psychology scale for analysis,to explore the relationship between "five expressions of emotions" and cancer in the theory of Chinese emotional theory, the purpose is provide a reference to study of the causes, prevention and treatment of cancer.MethodsA cross-sectional survey study was conducted to collect data on 135 cancer patients from the Department of Internal Medicine,Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Test(MMPI)and Symptom Checklist(SCL-90)were used for statistical analysis.Result Statistics from the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Test(MMPI)showed that the scores for hypochondriasis, depression, and hysteria were slightly higher than those of other scales, suggesting that the personality characteristics of cancer patients are more likely to be characterized by hypochondriasis, depression, and hysteria.Compared with other tumors, the distribution of personality in patients with digestive tract tumors was statistically significant(P<0.05).The probability of depression and hysteria was higher in patients with gastrointestinal cancer than in other tumors.Comparing with other tumors, the distribution of personality in lung cancer patients was statistically significant(P<0.05),and lung cancer patients had a higher probability of hysteria. The statistics of the Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90)showed that the abnormal probability of forced status(55.91%)and other item factors(61.42%)was higher, suggesting that tumor patients have higher probability of having obsessive-compulsive disorder and other item factors. There was a significant difference in the distribution of patients with digestive tract tumors on the SCL-90(P<0.05).Patients with digestive tract tumors showed higher probability of abnormalities of the obsessive-compulsive disorder than other tumors in the symptom self-rating scale test.Compared with other tumors, there was a statistically significant difference in the distribution of lung cancer patients on SCL-90(P<0.05).Lung cancer patients showed higher odds of obsessive-compulsive disorder than other tumors in the SCL-90 test. Conclusion:There is a close relationship between emotions and tumors, and the personality characteristics of cancer patients are highly likely to be characterized by hypochondriasis, depression, and hysteria.Compared with other tumors, patients with digestive tract tumors have higher rates of depression and hysteria than other tumors.Compared with other tumors, lung cancer patients have a higher probability of showing hysterias.Tumor patients have a higher probability of having obsessive-compulsive disorder and other item factors.Compared with other tumors, patients with digestive tract tumors showed a higher probability of being obliged to have abnormalities in the SCL-90 test than other tumors.Compared with other tumors, patients with lung cancer showed higher probability of abnormalities of the obsessive-compulsive disorder in the SCL-90 test than other tumors.
