ObjectiveA prospective community-based concurrent control study was used in this study, patients of osteoporosis in Guangta Street Community of Guangzhou, who meet the criteria of the natatorium were intervened to anti-osteoporosis herbal tea combined Lin's eight-section brocade, osteoporosis patients at the same baseline level were selected as the control group in the People's street community, both two groups were given basic treatment.By comparing the changes of muscle strength, quality of life and the incidence of fractures in the two groups after treatment,to evaluate the efficacy of anti-osteoporosis herbal tea combined with Lin's eight-section brocade in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. To Construct effective and feasible osteoporosis prevention and treatment programs to improve the quality of life of osteoporosis patients and promote them to more communities.MethodsBased on the simple questionnaire for community osteoporosis and based on the bone mineral density,300 subjects were finally enrolled in the study according to the principles and methods of non-randomized,controlled trials over the same period, aged 46~75 years(65.1±7.2).According to the proportion of 1:1,150 cases in the experimental group and 150 in the control group. The general situation, osteoporosis related situation, fracture history, fall history, lifestyle, past history of chronic disease and family history were investigated. The experimental group was treated with anti-osteoporosis herbal tea combined Lin's eight-section brocade, the control group receivedno intervention.both groups were given basic treatment(calcium and vitamin D supplements and health education). Two groups of subjects were measured at baseline and 6 months after the intervention of the sitting time, hand grip strength,BMD and serum bone turnover markers and 25(OH)D levels. The SF-36 score was used to assess the quality of life of the subjects and the number of new fractures and falls of the two groups were recorded during the follow-up period.Data using EpiData3.1 software for double entry and management, using SPSS 23.0 software for statistical analysis of the data.ResultsAfter 6 months of intervention,280 cases had incomplete baseline information, and the control group(138 cases)and control group(142 cases),which were included in the statistical analysis.1.Baseline indicators: ? There were no significant differences in demographics, past history of chronic diseases and family history.? Fall history: the incidence of falls was 16.8%,12.8% of the subjects have fallen 3 times or more, and the muscle weakness(38.3%)is the main reason for the fall of middle-aged and elderly osteoporosis patients, secondly was the poor surrounding environment, balance dysfunction and gait abnormality.?Osteoporosis Cognition: 43.6% of osteoporosis patients had never received preaching and bone mineral density testing. Most of the patients obtained the knowledge through the television(37.3%),the media(37.9%)and the relatives and friends(20.9%)and only 18.4% of them through the medical staff.?Fracture history: The incidence of fractures was 22.1%,wrist fracture was the highest 36.1%,spinal fracture accounted for 18.1%,hip fracture 15.3%,the other 30.5% and 75.0% of fractures due to falls.the incidence of fracture was 22.1%,wrist fracture accounted for 36.1%,spine fracture 18.1%,hip fracture 15.3%,others 30.5%,and 75% fracture due to fall.? There was no significant difference of the indexes of muscle strength,SF-36 score, bone mineral density, bone turnover index between the two groups.? Vitamin D levels: Baseline 25(OH)D levels were 26.33±6.64 ng/mL,of which 18.5% of the population lack of vitamin D,vitamin D deficiency is 73.9%.2.Changes in indicators after intervention: ?The muscle strength:(1)Sitting test time: 6 months after the experimental group compared to the baseline test time sitting time was significantly shorter than the control group, there was no statistically significant difference in baseline.(2)Lefthand grip: the control group had no significant change from the baseline level, the left hand grip force of the experimental group significantly increased compared with the baseline level.and the left hand grip strength of the experimental group was significantly higher than the baseline level.(3)Right hand grip strength: 6 months after the control group right hand grip downward trend than the baseline, the experimental group significantly increased compared with the baseline. There were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group(P = 0.000).? SF-36 score: there were no significant changes in the physiological functions, social functions and health changes of the two groups compared with the baseline level.Physiological function, body aches, and overall health scores were significantly improved in the experimental group compared to baseline, with no significant changes in the control group.Emotional function, mental health score compared with the baseline level, the control group decreased significantly from the baseline level, the experimental group had no significant change from baseline levels.Vitality: The vitality scores of both groups were significantly higher than the baseline levels, the difference was statistically significant.? New fractures: The number of new fractures in the two groups were 2 times and 3 times respectively, with no significant difference.?BMD: the BMD of lumbar spine and hip of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the baseline, while the BMD of the control group showed no significant improvement or even decreased.? bone metabolic markers: the 25(OH)D levels of both groups were significantly higher than the baseline levels, and the test group was higher than the control group, the difference was statistically significant. The experimental group PINP,b-CTX significantly improved compared with the baseline level, while the control group had no significant difference compared to the baseline.ResultsIn this study, the incidence of falls in community osteoporosis patients was relatively high, muscle strength reduction is the main cause of falls.and osteoporosis patients had a lower cognitive status of osteoporosis. There is a large proportion of vitamin D deficiency in patients of osteoporosis in community,long-term supplementation of vitamin D can significantly increase serum 25(OH)D level and improve vitamin D deficiency. The muscle strength, the quality of life index and the bone density decreased with the age increasingin patients of osteoporosis in community.Anti-osteoporosis herbal tea combined Lin's eight-section brocade can significantly improve muscle strength, quality of life, and bone mineral density in patients of osteoporosis and bone mineral density in bone metabolic markers, can promote bone formation and inhibit bone resorption,is worthy of promotion to more communities.
