ObjectiveThrough observing the efficacy difference between refined moxibustion and acupuncture to treat insomnia with dual deficiency of heart and spleen, this article was aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of refined moxibustion to treat insomnia with dual deficiency of heart and spleen, find out the relative advantage of refined moxibustion therapy and to explore its possible mechanism to effect.By doing this research,we expected to explore a new way to treat insomnia for the acupuncture and moxibustion area, and to provide evidence for the clinical application and promotion of refined moxibustion therapy.Method62 cases met the inclusion criteria were randomly categorized into the treatment group and the control group, with 32 cases in the treatment group and 30 cases in the control group. And they received refined moxibustion treatment and acupuncture treatment three times a week, separately. Then after four-week treatment,in order to evaluate the efficacy, the total curative effect rate, the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)score, the Self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)score and the Chinese symptom score were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.ResultsFinally 60 cases were involved in the result analysis except 2 cases off during the treatment. And both the 2 cases were from the treatment group and the reason for the dropping-out was irrelevant to the efficacy. And before the treatment, the statistical comparison of the gender composition, age,PSQI score,SAS score and Chinese symptom score between the treatment and control group, showed that there wasn’t significant difference between the two groups(with P>0.05),which meant the two groups were comparable. And it also showed that female took the greater part in the gender composition of insomnia in both groups. After four-week treatment, the PAQI total score and the scores of its six component, the SAS score and Chinese symptom score of the refined moxibustion treatment group were significantly decreased while comparing to the before(with p<0.05).And it was almost the same in the control group, except that the score of daytime dysfunction in PSQI didn’t show significant difference after the acupuncture treatment while comparing to the before. The results above indicated that both the two therapies had a curative efficacy in treating insomnia with dual deficiency of heart and spleen.Beside, the total curative effect rate of the refined moxibustion treatment group was 83.33%,including 5 cases clinically cured,2 markedly effective,18 worked and 5 invalid, while 63.33% of the control group, including 19 cases worked and 11 invalid. It meant that the refined moxibustion treatment have a better efficacy than the acupuncture treatment in treating insomnia with dual deficiency of heart and spleen(with p<0.05).ConclusionBoth the Refined moxibustion therapy and the acupuncture treatment have a clinical efficacy to treat insomnia with dual deficiency of heart and spleen, including devoting help for the sleep, relieving the anxiety and the Chinese symptom. However, the refined moxibustion therapy has a better efficacy than the acupuncture treatment, especially in relieving the daytime dysfunction. And it is worth an application and promotion. |
