| Objective:In this study, statistical analysis was conducted to examine the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, daytime sleepiness, sleep log, insomnia severity and Traditional Chinese Medical symptoms to objectively evaluate the clinical efficacy of warm acupuncture in Sun’s abdominal acupuncture area for the treatment of insomnia of both deficiency of heart and spleen, and to provide a new approach for the treatment of insomnia of both deficiency of heart and spleen.Methods:Sixty-six selected patients with insomnia of both deficiency of heart and spleen were randomly divided into the Sun’s abdominal acupuncture area needle warming moxibustion group(needle warming moxibustion group)and the conventional acupuncture group, with 33 patients in each group. In the needle warming moxibustion group, the abdominal area 1,abdominal area 2 and abdominal area 8 were taken and warm acupuncture was applied to the abdominal zone 8.In the conventional acupuncture group, both sides of Zhaohai,Shenmai,Shenmen,Sanyinjiao,Anmian,Sishencong,Xinshu and Pishu were taken. Both groups were treated once a day,6 times a week for 4 weeks. Before and after treatment, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Asens Insomnia Scale(AIS),Epworth Sleepiness Scale(ESS),sleep log and TCM evidence scores were compared between the two groups.SPSS25.0software was used to analyse the collected data.Results:1.66 patients were included in the trial,3 cases were shed, and 63 cases actually completed the clinical trial, including 32 cases in the needle warming moxibustion group and31 cases in the conventional acupuncture group. Before treatment, there was no difference(P>0.05)in comparing the general information(gender, age and duration of disease)of the two groups. There was no difference(P>0.05)in comparing the PSQI score,AIS score,ESS score and TCM evidence score of the two groups, which were comparable.2.PSQI score: intra-group comparison: compared with before treatment, after 4 weeks of treatment, there were significant differences in the scores of 6 sleep factors and total scores between the patients in the needle warming moxibustion group and the conventional acupuncture group(P<0.01);after 4 weeks of treatment, there were differences in the time to fall asleep, sleep efficiency and sleep disturbance between the two groups(P<0.05);comparison of sleep quality, sleep time, daytime dysfunction and total scores between the two groups The difference was significant(P<0.01);indicating that needle warming moxibustion was superior to conventional acupuncture in treating patients with insomnia of both deficiency of heart and splee.3.AIS score: compared with the pre-treatment period, there was a significant difference in the severity of insomnia in both groups after 4 weeks of treatment(P<0.01);after 4 weeks of treatment, there was a significant difference in the severity of insomnia in the needle warming moxibustion group compared with the conventional acupuncture group(P<0.01),indicating a better improvement in the severity of insomnia in the needle warming moxibustion group for patients with insomnia of both deficiency of heart and spleen.4.ESS score: intra-group comparison: compared to pre-treatment,the daytime sleepiness scores of patients within both groups decreased after 4 weeks of treatment, with a significant difference(P<0.01);inter-group comparison: after treatment, patients in the needle warming moxibustion group showed better improvement in daytime sleepiness than the conventional acupuncture group, with a difference(P<0.05).5.Sleep log: intra-group comparison: after 4 weeks of treatment, the total sleep time, number of awakenings and time to sleep improved significantly(P<0.01)in patients within both groups compared to the pre-treatment period.Between-group comparison: After 2weeks of treatment, there were differences in total sleep time and number of awakenings in the needle warming moxibustion group compared to the conventional acupuncture group(P<0.05),and after 4 weeks of treatment, the differences were significant(P<0.01);after 2weeks of treatment and after 4 weeks of treatment, there were significant differences in the time to fall asleep between the two groups(P<0.01).Between-subjects effect test: the difference in total sleep time between the two groups was significant(P<0.01),and there was a difference in the number of awakenings and time to fall asleep(P<0.05).6.TCM syndrome scores: intra-group comparison: compared with the pre-treatment period, the TCM syndrome scores of patients in both groups decreased, with a significant difference(P<0.01);inter-group comparison: after treatment, the TCM syndrome scores of patients in the needle warming moxibustion group were significantly lower than those of conventional acupuncture, with a significant difference(P<0.01).7.Clinical efficacy: the total effective rate of treatment in the needle warming moxibustion group was 90.63% and that in the conventional acupuncture group was 83.87%,with a difference between the two(P<0.05),indicating that the clinical efficacy of the needle warming moxibustion group was better than that of the conventional acupuncture group.Conclusion:1.Both Sun’s abdominal acupuncture area needle warming moxibustion and conventional acupuncture were effective for the insomnia of both deficiency of heart and spleen, and Sun’s abdominal acupuncture zone warm acupuncture was more effective.2.Sun’s abdominal acupuncture area needle warming moxibustion was better than conventional acupuncture treatment in improving sleep quality, insomnia severity, daytime sleepiness, and TCM symptoms in patients with the insomnia of both deficiency of heart and spleen.3.As the treatment time was prolonged, the total sleep time was prolonged, the number of awakenings and the time to fall asleep were reduced in patients with Sun’s abdominal acupuncture area needle warming moxibustion and conventional acupuncture. |
