ObjectiveTo observe the effect of electro acupuncture on skeletal muscle cross-sectional area of ICU-acquired muscle weakness patients with mechanical ventilation.MethodsFrom September 1st 2017 to February 10 th 2018,44 patients with ICU-acquired weakness receiving mechanical ventilation were admitted to the Department of Critical Care Medicine, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, and 43 patients completed the study, shedding and removing 1 case. The treatment group of 21 cases, shedding, excluding 1 case, the actual observation of 20 cases,23 cases of control group, shedding, eliminating 0 cases, the actual observation of 23 cases.Patients in the control group were treated with conventional ICU treatment(treatment of underlying diseases such as sepsis and shock, nutritional support, blood glucose control, daily wake-up plan, and early passive activity). The treatment group was added to the control group on a regular basis Electric acupuncture treatment(bilateral upper limb selection Quchi,Jianyu,Hoku,Zusanli and Sanyinjiao selection of bilateral lower extremities, chest and abdomen choose Danzhong,Qihai points),30 minutes every day,5 days For a course of treatment, the cross-sectional area of the rectus femoris, the thickness of the rectus femoris muscle, the thickness of the biceps, the muscle strength scores of the MRC were observed before and after treatment.Oxygenation index changes were observed at the same time.Mechanical ventilation time,ICU length of stay and 28-day mortality difference.ResultsBefore treatment, the rectus femoris cross-sectional area(RFcsa),quadriceps muscle thickness,MRC muscle strength score and oxygenation index were measured. There was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the lower limb muscles showed varying degrees of atrophy, but the control group was more obvious. The biceps thickness, the quadriceps muscle thickness and the rectus femoris cross-sectional area in the treatment group were significantly higher than those in the control group(p <0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups before and after treatment(P> 0.05).After treatment, the muscular strength of the treatment group was improved(P <0.05)compared with that of the control group at the same period. After electro acupuncture stimulation, the change tendency of oxygenation index of the two groups was positively correlated, and there was a significant statistical difference(p <0.05).The duration of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay in treatment group were significantly shorter than those in control group(P <0.05).There was no significant difference in the28-day mortality between the two groups using Kplan-Meier method(P = 0.708>0.05).ConclusionElectro acupuncture stimulation of ICU-AW in patients receiving mechanical ventilation can slow down and prevent the development of muscle atrophy and muscle weakness, improve oxygenation level in patients and shorten the duration of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay, however,Can not reduce it by 28-day mortality.
