Objective: To observe the alveolar bone thickness of the maxillary canine area in patients who had skeletal Class ?and Class ? malocclusion using CBCT to measure pre and post-orthodontic treatment alveolar bone thickness of maxillary canine area, height and canine tooth root rotation range changes in order to provide a powerful reference for orthodontic clinical diagnosis and correction of the process of scientific and reasonable to provide a powerful reference for moving teeth.Materials and Methods: A total of Thirty patients were selected from Department of Orthodontics,Dalian city Stomatological hospital-affiliated hospital of Dalian medical university, comprised of 13 males and 17 females [mean age of 20.55± 2.82 y] who presented with Class ? and Class ? malocclusion, consist of two groups the first group included 15 patients who had skeletal Class ? and the second group included 15 patients who had skeletal Class ?.The maxillary canine alveolar bone thickness, height and tooth movement range before and after orthodontic treatment were measured respectively. All subjects were in the natural head position, which is a natural straight head and neck natural relaxation,CBCT images were scanned under the state of both eyes, the equipment used by the KaVo company produced by the United States KaVo3 DeXam computer cone tomography system, the generated DICOM data throughthree-dimensional analysis software Invivo Dental5.2software for three-dimensional data reconstruction,in order to obtain the experimental sagittal measurement plane. The test items required for the experiment include maxillary left and right canine area, anterior and posterior orthodontic inclination, palatal alveolar height,6mm from the cemento-enamel junction, and 12 mm of the alveolar bone thickness at the root apex, maxillary canine range of rotation in the alveolar bone.Using SPSS 21.0 statistical software for statistical analysis of the experimental results, paired t-test was used to compare between pairs of comparative analysis. Results: 1.After orthodontic treatment of the right canine alveolar bone in Class? malocclusion, the lamellar thickness of the alveolar bone was 6mm from thecemento-enamel junction, and the height of the alveolar bone was significantly reduced(P <0.05).The labial glaze cementum 6mm alveolar bone thickness La-6,and the level of labial alveolar bone L1 and the level of alveolar bone L2 before and after orthodontic treatment in the left canine of skeletal Class ? malocclusion were obviously decreased, the rotationrange of the canine root labial surface was significantly increased A0(P <0.05).2.In skeletal class? malocclusion patients before and after orthodontic treatment the right canine area alveolar bone palatal alveolar height L2 was significantly reduced(P <0.05);Before and after orthodontic treatment, the alveolar bone thickness La-6 of the 6mm alveolar cementum, and the labial alveolar bone height L1 and the palatal alveolar bone height L2 of left canine was decreased significantly(P <0.01),which is statistically significant. Conclusions: Alveolar bone thickness of the maxillary canine labial and apical area in patients with skeletal Class ? malocclusion was significantly thinner or even absent after distal moving the maxillary dentition by implanting support. The medial of labial root Alveolar bone thickness was increased, while the palatal alveolar bone thickness reduced, the lip and palatal alveolar bone height decreased. In addition, the Alveolar bone thickness and height of the maxillary canine labial and palatal in patients with skeletal Class ? malocclusion was decreased. The study suggested that the condition of the alveolar bone malformation and canine alveolar bone before surgery should be examined carefully for patients who need unconventional tooth extraction so that an appropriate decision can be made when deciding between extraction and non-extraction treatment modality.During the maxillary dentition distalization, the appropriate orthodontic force, canine torque controland the mini-implant vertical force, can minimize the excessive canine uprighting or palatal inclination, minimize alveolar bone defects, decreased the ouccrence of bone fennestration and dehiscence.
