Objective Invasion and metastasis are the important clinical features of malignant tumors, and closely related to the clinical therapeutic effect, the quality of life and prognosis of patients. Thus, seeking the tumor markers of tumor development, recurrence and metastasis has a vital role in the finding, diagnosis and treatment of the tumors.Previous studies have shown that FoxM1 and E-cadherin are closely related to tumor infiltration and metastasis. The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of FoxM1 and E-cadherin in breast cancer tissues and their relationship with clinicopathological parameters. Methods Use the tumor tissue and normal tissue around the tumor from surgical excision to routinely make the paraffin embedding producers, then make the tissue chip.Use the method of immunohistochemistry(IHC)to detect the expression of FoxM1 and E-cadherin in breast cancer and the surrounding normal tissues.Meanwhile, collect all the breast cancer patients' general condition and the clinical and pathological features of breast cancer, finally use the statistical software SPSS 13.0 to analyze its relationship with the clinical pathologic features and prognosis. Results In 68 cases of infiltrating ductal carcinoma of breast, the positive expression rate of FoxM1 protein was 48.5%(33/68),and the positive expression rate of E-cadherin protein was 41.2%(28/68).In the surroungding normal tissues, the positive expression rate was 0(0/30)and 86.7%(26/30)respectively,it can be seen that the expression of FoxM1 in tumor tissues is higher than that of surrounding normal breast tissue and the expression of E-cadherin protein in tumor tissues is lower than that of surrounding normal breast tissue. The positive expression of FoxM1 and E-cadherin protein was not related to the age of the patient, site of tumor occurrence, histological classification, and molecular typing. The positive expression rate of FoxMl in the axillary lymph node metastasis group was higher than that in the non-lymph node metastasis group(P<0.05).It was closely related to tumor size and TNM staging(P<0.05).The positive expression rate of E-cadherin was closely related to the condition of the axillary lymph node and TNM staging(P<0.05).Conclusion It is obvious that FoxM1 has higher positive rate in the breast tissue than in normal tissues, while E-cadherin has lower positive rate in the breast tissue than in normal tissues. Both of them are the important biological markers of breast cancer infiltration, metastasis and survival. And the expression of FoxM1 and E-cadherin is negatively correlated.
