Objective To investigate whether platelet-related blood parameters in patients with coronary artery disease(CAD)and depression are clinically significant. Methods We selected 65 patients who were diagnosed with CAD in our hospital from December 2017 to May 2018 to be screened by PHQ2 and PHQ9 scales and scored for depression. They were divided into depression group(n=14)and non-depression group(n=51)and their platelet-related blood parameters in peripheral blood were measured by a Beckman Coulter LH750 automated hematology analyzer. Results Depression group had higher platelet volume distribution width(PDW)and mean platelet volume(MPV)than non-depression group and both the differences were statistically significant,(14.99±2.76)% vs(13.42±2.37)%,P<0.05;(11.75±1.20)fl vs(10.82±1.17)fl,P<0.05,respectively.But there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of platelet count(PLT)and plateletcrit(PCT)etc.(P>0.05).Conclusion Compared with patients with CAD but no depression, the platelet-related blood parameters(PDW and MPV)in patients with CAD and depression are higher, and the results are statistically significant. Therefore,it is important that we pay more attention to the platelet-related blood parameters in those who have depression in addition to CAD in order to adopt early intervention measures.
